Ant
What fault do you have with the power steering?, i find it strange that a few of us all of a sudden are having power steering problems, i'm wondering if you have the same fault that i have at the moment.
Cheers Dave.

Dealer has said mine (bugeye) has a small leak in power steering - but suggested that "we keep an eye on it" as it only weeps - so I have some fluid to top up and check level of reservoir every week. No doubt he suggested this as he knew the cost was high, and it was some way down the priority list of the things that needed attention so to speak. Of course, if and when matters become of a more obvious or catastrophic nature, you simply must do something. Sourcing the part from a breakers is a good idea as long as you know it's in working order, but then there's still the labour and time etc.

The bugeye pump is notorious for a leaking O-ring on the feed (low pressure) port coming from the reservoir.

There is a big topic over on nasioc.com where they describe the problem more clearly, but it is usually fixed with a new o-ring, as the old one goes flat/brittle, or new clamps, as the old ones seem to not cope with the hardening of the stock lines.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...eding+steering

This leads to air in the fluid, and sometimes even a little weeping of oil.
