Bought a set of Vredestein Wintrac extremes from mytyres for £520 and put these on some cheap alloys. Its my first winter without the scooby and I'm hearing good things about winter tyres-even on rwd cars!.
I have heard that winter tyres need a couple of hundred miles on them to work effectively to get rid of release agents in the tyres,so be careful out there with your new tyres if you havent worn them in first

Swapped last week from GSD3s on 17s to Cooper Weathermaster Snows in 205/55R16H using a set of cheap oe rims from ebay on my MY00 wagon. We haven't had proper snow yet but they still work a lot better even on dry roads so will be staying on for Winter.
Got mine here for £77 a corner.
