The code does work fine, the problems come in if you pay via debit/credit card, should be ok via PP.

Basically, if you pay via DC/CC, you will be billed for the full amount and refunded the £20 at a later date usually before dispatch of the item. Not so bad if you are ordering an in stock item/ or you can afford to pull out the total amount and be refunded later, bit of a **** if you are pre ordering. You then could potentially wait quite some time for the money back, assuming the item ordered is even available by the release date.

I'm not sure this is a scam, but it's very misleading and underhand imo.

I can't go into detail here in case the other half sees this, but I'm hoping I'll get my refund soon as I can't afford to be this much out of pocket.

BTW, it turns out VERY is a sister company. So apparently if you order (certainly via CC/DC) you are ordering through them and not Woolworths, even though all of this is done on the Woolies website, and all correspondance is from them, not VERY.

Worked for me with PayPal.

These codes no longer work on the Woolies website.

Suppose the worst than can happen is I get a refund and buy from Game for £34.99.

For me as well. However when you go back to view your account in Very it shows as a £45 purchase. Even though the order conf email shows as £25.

I must have just got in there then. Ordered mine about 10am.

I am not convinced they will refund the £20 anyway. They must be making a loss on this.

I'd assume they are making a loss but are problies trying to regain the woolies good name by doing this "1st purchase offer"... but with this fiasco going on, i can defo say i wouldnt bother with woolworths or very.co.uk again

Yup, I've got an email from Very showing the £20 off plus free delivery, but my Very account looks like the free delivery only has worked.
I'll have to look at my bank account tomorrow to see how much has actually been taken.

If you paid by card, it is most likely the whole amount (not inc.postage) will have been taken.

Read the confirmation e-mail, it probably says something below the invoice part about being refunded the money back (in this case £20) at a later date.

The discount is given some days afterwards apparently.
There is a note on my order to say there may be a delay in sending out the games

Again, I'll not go into the finer details, but I was trying to get a game that may not be available for a little while. The info on the e-mail said the refund (£20) would come back but shouldn't be any later than the dispatch date. Depending upon availability/whether you pre-order it could be a wait more than a few days.

That I can't afford, as it could be at over a months wait, not including delays due to demand, assuming it'll even come out on time. I could've coped with paying out the money after discount as I could've got a 'stop gap' pressie too just in case.

It just pisses me off as it's a little underhand imo.

Hopefully your game won't be delayed too much.

I'm sure this won't concern peeps more well off so much, but when you are working on a budget, it's annoying.

I wish I'd waited to read this thread further before rushing in thinking I was getting a good deal. I just hope the refund comes soon.

Scotty, don't worry, it's not your fault. You tried to help people out and I'm sure most are perfectly happy. It's Woolies being a bit underhand imo.

Hey Scotty, its not your fault. If I had taken notice of the word PAYPAL in the original post, i would have not shelled out the extra £20. From what Ive read above, is it correct that I will get the £20 back when the game is dispatched? Does anyone have any experience of this, do they info you that it has been refunded or does it just appear in your account?
