An old boss once told me I was always reliably late by five minutes, every day without fail In my last job I just rocked up when I felt like it and left when I'd finished but I always felt guilty for starting too late and leaving too early The best option I've found is not to work

Being self employed, I please myself. Well, most of the time.
I like to try and I mean try, to get in before 9:30.
I was well late yesterday, as her highness forgot her file for college and I had to go back to get it for her.

Bunch of lazy sods the lot of you's!
I leave the house at half six in the morning, yes there are 2 half sixes in a day.
Start work at 7am and finish at 5pm, you lot don't know you're born.

Being late is on par with bad spelling. Having never been employed by anyone I can see from this thread that it doesn't appear too important in the workplace either. Surely that is a modern thing?
If I want work done around my home and a workman turns up late to give me a quote and he's competitively priced he still won't get the work. Likewise if I email someone and they spell like a 3 year old.
It does mean those available to use are few and far between and rapidly diminishing with time.

Another thing that I've noticed of late is people "eating" during meetings... on more than one occasion I've attended/held meetings and people have rocked up and started to eat their lunch during the meeting.... I find this worse than being late and really unprofessional, especially if the food ******* stinks as well..

This happened at my induction course for where I work now. Seven of us went up to town for it. We're all sitting around the table, and the financial director was wittering on, all the lunchtime sandwiches/nibbles etc were laid out on a table at the back ready for lunch. All of a sudden, there's a rustling and some daft bint who's in charge of IT or whatever, starts scoffing on her packed lunch while the bloke's talking! How rude is that???
Or is it just me?
