Best ways to giver up the beer
#61
Beer or Sloe Gin or any other alcohol for that matter doesn't agree with me either Les, but i thought that was the point
Think most of it is down to individual metabolism which slows with age (i'm 42 now). Luckily for me mine was/is quite high/fast which has prevented my poor diet from effecting me too much and has allowed me to get back to my original weight. Now i have a chance of a change in occupation and will be less active so will be watching my habits a little more closely.

I thought the point was, he is trying to knock it off completely and you asked about our drinking habits.
I think you are right about individual metabolism. Maybe in your case it is alcohol in any form which is the problem

Dont know why Beer does not suit my digestion but 12 year old Sloe Gin goes down a treat. I quite like Canadian whisk and dry ginger too.

I asked the OP for his drinking habits Les, then the DCI felt he had to confess and off it went
Canadian whisk! Prefer Scotch myself (Mmmmmm that doesn't agree with me either )

Best way I have found to loose the midrift bulge is to get out and do sports that dont feel like excercise. Ok so they feel like a hell of a lot of effort especially when you first start but after a few weeks you see a bit come off which makes you want to do more AND probably more importantly makes you want to stop anything that will set you back.
In the last 2 years I've taken up snowboarding (even manged to get to the Alps early this year), got back into biking (offroad mountain biking) and started climbing (indoor and out). All of the sports I'm doing have so much buzz you really dont notice it as excercise which for me is the key.
As i say when you notice improvements you start to adjust everything else to make sure you keep them and gain more improvements. I'm eating far more healthily and far less than I ever was and have lost 3 stone in about 6 months since taking up climbing.

You would not believe how evil that tasted, but the Germans thought it was the bees knees!
I was recently sent a little bottle of Jameson malt by a radio ham friend. Now that is outstanding stuff, wish it had been a full size bottle. Trying to make it last!

We were once given a Japanese version of Scotch during a Rosenmontag celebration in Germany.

There are some awful tasting nips about thats for sure, got a 12 yo Blair Athol sat on the shelf, thats a very nice single.
I use to go on the whiskey trail when i was based up at Lossiemouth, a few quality nips to start with then it didn't really matter what they tasted like like by the end of it

I think there are some very good japanese 'whiskeys' around , prolly not as good as the 1947 bottle of Macallan we finished off about 8 years ago
I do a bit of adrenaline sports Korrosiv , in fact i was out on the board ( windsurf) yesterday , followed by a trip to A&E for possible cracked ribs
Saw the nurse but gave up half way thro waiting for the docs...
Was forced to retire to the boozer
