Best ways to giver up the beer
and/or limit the quantites anyway ( see iv slipt up all ready )
Mate had a heart attack about ten years ago ( my present age ) and whilst he was pretty overwieight from additional sources deep fried camembert and the like , beer was definitely part of the equation
Hes much better now and only drinks the beer in the pub , sticks to wine at home and sensible eating ( except the day after his cholestol/other checks )
His method is to view a pint of beer as tho half of it is sugar ( which it is really )
- now you wouldnt really want to munch your way thro that woud you !

Scientific evidence shows:
* you could be three times more likely to have a stroke and three times more likely to get mouth cancer if you’re a man regularly drinking more than two pints of strong lager a day; and
* you are 50% more likely to get breast cancer and twice as likely to have high blood pressure, which could lead to a stroke or a heart attack, if you’re a woman regularly drinking two large glasses of wine or more a day.

Middle age spread made me quit. Was on about 12pints a week at the local (mostly weekend) plus tinnies and spirits at home. And about 3 take-aways/eat-out meals (fish&chips, Curry, Chinky, Carvery etc).
Put simply, I just stopped going to pub mid-week after work. I also stopped stocking beer in the house (used to have a fridge dedicated to beer....stocked via the local cash and carry).
I also ate less. And stopped snacking (the latter was hard). And I stopped going out for food/take-aways. 1 take-away a week is my ration, and 1 eat-out meal. I've also replaced the plates for smaller one. Same with the breakfast bowls.
I have one fizzy/sugary soft drink a day (tin of coke - full fat, diet coke is rank and equally as unhealthy). And I limit other soft drinks (cordials, juices etc. all have huge sugar levels). Limited to tea...one sugar, no milk. Yes, Tea with no milk!....get some camomile, redbush or English breakfast and try it, I found almost all of my acid indigestion problems has gone since I stopped having milk in my tea
I also found when I do go out for food, I enjoy it a hell of alot more; the money saved means I can go to nicer places that does better quality food. I mean a £10 Chinese Belly-Buster Special from Dave Wong's is nice, but a proper well cooked Cantonese meal is in a league above.
In April I was 78kg (12.2 stone), now I'm now 70kg (11stone), and I've done **** all exercise in between and still drink 3 pints, have the odd curry/chinky/fish&chips every week

Up until 6 months ago i was having,
a fry up for brekkies ,
a mac D's, BK or alike for tea,
choccy and sweets everyday as and when i felt like it,
3-5 cans of red bull aday (not the small ones either)
untold tea/coffe with milk and sugar
soft drinks 2ltr bottle a day
2 or 3 pints of lager every night.
That wasd just Monday to Friday, use to hammer it at the weekend, £150 on booze and eating out.
Fak! Never really looked at it like that before
Never got much over 12st, just under 11 now

I pretty much quit drinking last Christmas and upped my running/gym training a bit. I have an occasional night out drinking, and if we go out for a meal I'll restrict myself to one or two small beers or a glass of wine. By far the best chance of success is if you quit totally for at least two months until the cravings subside and you get out of the habitual side of drinking. Eight months later I've dropped from 16st to 14st on a 6'1" frame. That's spot on for me and I feel great.
