Cameron's statement did not allow for the fact that Moat was mentally ill and as such was not fully responsible for his actions. The people who lived near him realised that.
Les
Sorry Les I draw the line at that statement, the more I hear about how many arrests are being made of people suspected of assisting him (13 and counting) then it's clear this was a clearly thought out plan.
Making excuses for him that there was some kind of justifiable reason behind his sick actions is inexcusable.
I know people who have far worse things happen to them and are in a far worse way mentally and they do not anything like Moat did.
At the end of the day instead of making a positive re-start to his life after paying his debt to society after coming out of prison he went after, and it could be said, went to kill, someone he supposidly loved
But he was capable working and living a normal/corrupt life before his last sentence!
Broadmoor would not help him the fool had one Mission even though he Screwed that up!
I was in time to catch you then!
Don't know him personally of course but yes according to what has been said he was doing alright at one time and was well respected but deteriorated, maybe the effects of the steroids and eventually became seriously mentally disturbed. The bad episodes in his life may well have set him off his head.
I have no particular feelings for him and am of course desperately sorry for the people who suffered at his hands. I hold however that when trying to assess why he did it that his mental condition should also be part of the considerations. I think he might have got better treatment for his condition in Broadmoor rather than a normal gaol.
