I am using the laptop and Blackberry at the moment as they are easier to use on the sofa for me, that might change I guess.
Worth having ? If you like shiny toys, yes.... Replace a laptop.... For me, not just yet.

As for the not like a laptop, it definatly isnt. I have my Dell on my lap now, and its much nicer to use, more friendly angles of screen and keyboard to use. I dont think thats going to change really. Certainly not for prolonged browsing or working.
I have the best of all worlds now lol. BB, Dell 11z netbook and ipad for feckin about and travelling on planes etc.

lol I think Trout was being sarcastic regarding my previous comments over other Apple products.
Not quite sure about me being a sheep, but I guess i deserve that.
None left here either now. Apple had none in, Best Buy had very limited stock, went to 2 stores yesterday and bought one at each. All anyone has left now is 64gb 3G.
Was going to get a spare to bring home to sell if they had one more, but alas
As for me buying an iPhad... the novelty will wear off with me long before it does with the rest of the world lol

Yes, same for every Apple product, you dont own an Apple, Apple owns you.
I suspect comparable devices from other companies will be along soon, after all it was the worse kept secret in technology for ages, if they havent they have missed a trick, Apple now have defined a market niche, whether or not it is a good idea or not, or whether a similar device from another manufacturer would have sold I dont know, but now there is a reference point they will appear, possibly slighty better but without the Apple logo that doesnt mean that much.

it does look a very slick product -- and I just begin to warm to it, then wham - have to give credit card details (I apprectiate it is possible to do it without as per Tim link) but wtf really

but (Micosoft) tablet PC's came out 9 odd years ago - they never really caught on,- even in the educational market -- maybe the market for Ipad is the sofa browsing people do these days-- and that has only become possible with home broadband

When it first came out I critisized it for not having a full OS. Now having used one and owning one, it makes good sense for it not to have an OS. It is NOT a replacement for a laptop, not do I think could it be. But its a funky gadget to have about.
I dont think I would ever bother with a keyboard dock for it or a BT keyboard either. its onscreen keyboard is suitable for the time period the device is usable for.
All the above of course applies to me, maybe not for others.
All said and done, if you like toys, and have the cash, the iPad is fun.
iPhone apps look crap on it though lol.

Two people I'm staying with at the moment have iPads and they've completely replaced their laptops, web surfing, email, document editing, games, movies, book, music. I'm sure some people do tasks that the iPad can't but it's hard to think of one.

Good stuff mate. Do you have a sudden sense of belonging now? Lol
I won't deny liking mine for one second, but defiantly feel it has it's limitations.
Glad that I have finally got to use the much loves Apple touch screen keyboard, and am pleased to say it's much nicer than my experiences with iPhones.
Also Benji in the Apple store was very helpful too, unlike noddy the other day.

I don't have an iPhone or such like so apps are all new for me. Spending all my time looking at them now
It feels really good to use and I'm really impressed with the touch screen. It's such great quality compared to other touch screens I've experienced.

Do you get mistaken for the presenter called Jake on the F1 programme when you are walking around now?

It is superb quality for sure. Was a bit annoyed when mine went all slow yesterday lol, playing catching with my typing for a bit.
I am enjoying it though, and looking for worth while apps still.
I forgive him a little now for using one, but unlike him, I am standing loyally by my Blackberry also.

Prices can be anywhere from free (for classics, should be a link at the top of the website for the free books) to, well, depends on book and publisher. As an example, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" is £3.98 including VAT. Looks like Fire and Hornet's Nest are the same price.
Looking at the new releases they seem to be from £5 to about £15.
