Just to add another few questions into the mix....
Cosworth inlet manifold... your thoughts?? Worth trying to factor into a 2.1 build with relevant turbo (looking for 450ish).
Hard to find any info or hard facts on the cosworth inlet, few bits i have seen, seem to suggest that they dont work that well until your making 600+ bhp. Tho i read that on a US forum, so they have lower octane fuel, talk ****, smell etc etc

I'm using standard ver5 sti heads with titanium valve springs (were with the heads when I bought them) and Nismo 740cc injectors (using about 66% duty on full throttle)

This is my take on it.
The 2.5 feels faster initially, but it isn't. On the road, it has an effortless quality for sure, but most turbos don't suit the engine that well, giving a big slug of power that tails off. If you go the whole hog with a GT35/42 and big valves/flowing/cams they will deliver the excitement, as in 700 bhp plus from one we built!
Most customers can't afford that, and we found that the delivery from the 2.1 is much better. Take a look at the graph in the first post and note how the power holds right up to the end of the rev range, with no sudden drop off. It's hard to get a graph like that from a 2.5 without spending large sums on one.
A guy local to us, serious about his drag racing, ditched his 2.5 and went for one of our 2.1's. He's now in the 10 second area! Answers it all really.

Very true! Mine is a totally a road car, everyday transport etc , and being a Newage it's a fair bit 'porkier' that you lot, so I don't think that I can compete against you two. Unless I shove a shot of nitrous into it!
Martyn knows exactly what I want from the car, and when I get too excited and start talking about throwing things out to lose weight from the car he gives me a funny look. It's probably for the best...
He's mentioned you a few times whilst talking about the strip - look forward to meeting you some day

mine's stopped being a 'road car' for a while now , ok its road legal but thats a requirement for the drag series . honestly it scares the crap out of me on the road . even more so now with the 2.1 , being laggier than the 2.5 it hits so much harder. on the strip your always in the 'power band' .
i had to do 1000 miles running in , i went out at night and drove it up the M5 to bristol and back lol . . with ear plugs in
i know Alan drove it as well , ask him what its like pmsl

Yes, I recall driving your car and found that the experience of sitting in an oil drum rolling down hill having hammers thrown at it was only marginally less stressful.
My chickens enjoyed road testing it however!

Arf came third, beaten by an RA with a 2.1 from somewhere familiar....
LOL
dunx
P.S. A bloody good effort given just how huge that turbo is.

well what can i say, what a day and what a car.tbh when i entered for the grudgement day i didnt expect too much really as its only a small tight track and running a gt35 isnt really ideal.how wrong was i,the car performed superb even in the red hot sun.i ended the day taking 3rd place which for my first outing on track in the car made me smile from ear to ear.then after a full day off kaning the living daylights out of it,i came home and took are lass out for tea in it.who said a 600+ car is too much for the road, its as good off track as it is on.to anyone who is considering having a 2.1 stroker built by alan jefferys,DO IT.
