Dragon/ Warrior tattoo...
Part 1
Just got back from the first 2 hour sitting, with the head, a claw, and part of the body of the dragon outlined. Still a lot more outlining to go, more detail, and of course a LOT of colouring in.

im gonna see someone for one.
Im after a lion (me) and lioness (mrs) on my shoulder, overlooking a cub (my baby son) with space for more cubs, nothing to big but probably about 5 inches wide. Got to go into the shop to sort of price it up.
£60 an hour is the rate for custom work, is that a good rate? (the work is better than other places I have seen)

Outside of the leg is no big deal at all. As it gets closer to the inside, and the top it gets a little more tender, but still nothing to cry about
Had a cherry blossom branch added now, with some more shading, thats on the inner thigh, starting to go round the back of the leg. Having a tree trunk, some more blossoms and some more detail added on Saturday, will post some more up then, but here it is up to date for now.

Jay, you get what you pay for usually mate. I pay £50 an hour for mine. happy with the work, so it suits me. Make sure you check out their work before commiting to a particular artist.

That's a nice idea - kind of like The Lion King. I was reading the book to my son last night and can see the picture of Simba and Nala when their cub was born at the end of the book.

Okie dokie, a little more work done today.
Session 4, had some more dragon body added, some more smoke added and some started to be shaded, and a rear claw.
Placement is on the rear and inner rear of my thigh.
Nowhere near as tender as I thought it could be.
Back in 2 weeks time.

Okie dokie, for the 2 of you that are interested lol....
Session 5. The final piece which now completes the wrap around the thigh.
Another large chunk of twisted dragon body, the last leg added, and the most inner part of my thigh covered
Only an hour and a half today due to a friend having her back piece started, but happy to have the main structure of the theme done.
There is more detail to add, thats prob another sitting in itself, and some more of the dragons body to be finished towards my hip.
Once thats done, the last of the smoke gets added, and the fun begins..... Colour and shading
Cant wait for that part. Excellent bit is, looks like all my sessions for a while yet will now be with friends who are having pieces started too
So, here it is, looks a bit odd just the one section, but put them all together and it makes perfect sense

That's looking really nice Snazy! decided against having colour put in mine so that one is all finished now! Going back 2 weeks today fro him to do some work on the bigger one on my back which goes up my spine - feel beteer when I know my one guy has out his touch to it. Wish I'd waited for him to do it to be honest but it'll all look better in 2 weeks time

lol cheers, its a fair bit bigger than that in real life too
Its all a bit "Rolf Harris" at the mo, "can you guess what it is yet", but the colouring and shading will really make it pop nicely. All a little way off yet.
Taking just under a month off now, let it all heal properly, then get back in there, and get the final bits of lining done I hope. Then the real fun starts.
I remember how excited I was when the Koi started getting coloured, and it started to come together,..... it all seems so little now, so cant wait to see how this is gonna come out.
Ritchie, post the pic again, or gimmie a link where to look please luv Would like to see a good finished pic of it
I have started putting my mind to the hannya mask too now Looking forward to that for '09
Kirituhi has also come to my attention, but think that might look a bit odd. Yet to decide yet. But think all 4 corners of me will end up Jap rather than mixing.

Wow, thank you for posting
Thats superb. Personally I would be tempted to have some back and grey backing to make it pop a bit, but as it stands its awesome
Whats next then ?

lol all good things take time, and by the time you get to the end,........... you have another idea. Thats me anyway.
3 months aint such a long time to get a piece done over. Especially allowing healing time.
Mine started in Sept, and should be done by about the end of Feb
What you thinking of getting on your other arm then fella ?

Next is touch up on the back piece and then possibly a big dragonfly on the opposite side with smaller ones and smaller butterflies going around the back to link to that one! We'll see!!

Im thinking of opposing Hannya masks for my shoulders/chest, facing out and towards eachother, with a different theme for each one going on to my back/shoulder/top of arms.
So doing some research into what I want with them, and then give the artist an idea of what kind of look for the Hannya's
Once they are done, I think thats my lot. Shorts and t shirt still hides the whole lot
