I'll only comment on that bit then, as that's my remit at Codies So, yay for that. You have no idea how difficult it is to record an F1 engine, on a track, and then not have any control over what the driver is going to do.

As for the lag. I don't know the ins and outs of it all, but do understand that the gaps in gear changes, which are highlighted by the audio (and don't sound 100% accurate), are due to a physics fix which was needed for when changing gear whilst going around a bend. Too late to fix for 2010 unfortunately, but it's on my list to chase for 2011.

Looks like people are cheating online already. Playing with some chap today and I had the high speed setup yet he breezed past me on the straight like I was stood still. Finished the first lap 30 secs faster than me and I barely put a wheel wrong. Disappointing considering the small numbers playing online.

How did they manage to cheat then?

If youve played Quick Game Mode you will know there are limited settings you can change in terms of car setup and the car performance is equal no matter if you drive a mclaren or a hrt car.

I've had the same thing regarding the lolly pop man. I have to wait ages and then the car in front of me in the pit garage gets released into my path

Are you playing on PC? Looks like there are several files people can edit to improve car performance. Think they're looking at fixing that for a patch.

Yep, that's one of the biggies. If you pit a lap (or two) later than when your engineer tells you, it doesn't happen.

Another annoying thing online is if your at the back of the grid you can barely see the starting lights through all the driver tags. Did they test this game at all lol.

yep, I now change my "recommended" pit stop to a few laps later. So far I have now had quick/normal pit stops as other cars have mostly been in.

Mind you the more you play the game the more frustrating it gets with stupid bugs - last time I played it I left the pits and set the start point to sector 3, only to find out as it jumped to that section, where the car is driving itself for a few seconds, the stupid computer spun me (I didn't have control at this point) and I got a 5 place grid drop????

Oh, and another where I ran off the track, about 3 cars went past yet I still got a penalty for cutting the corner, even though I must have lost about 3-4 seconds!

Am I also correct in saying there is no "current" weather status? I know you get the forecast which gives you the % chance of it raining but how do you know if it is or not? I find it looks sunny from the view in the garage so you think, oh I will go out on slicks, only to find out its pissing down as you leave the garage!

oh, yea and thats another issue even playing it "off line", would help if it displayed a zoomed in image of the start lights as you can't see the bloody things.

Prehaps we should make a Scoobynet list of bugs and send it off to the game developers

.. but that's all part of the "live the life". Ant Davidson was playing the builds regularly at the Birmingham studio, so am guessing that he thought it was pretty much the way it is at the back ?

Don't worry if you don't get it, can't be bothered to explain but you may work it out in time, just give it some time.

I get it chap. I was just being sarcastic as I started the discussion off on poor visibility of the starting lights due to players names getting in the way. Of course its harder to see the lights from the back of the grid in real life but I assume they are plenty large enough to be visible to all.

Can someone tell me, if it possible to adjust the engine map and wing position in the game? I've downloaded a manual (for the PC) which states using the 'W' key to switch wing positions and 'E' for engine map. I'm only 4 races in on the career using 'pro' levels. However even though the engineer tells me I've "sustained light damage to the front wing, adjust it to compensate"... likewise I've done a development stage where it's unlocked a new engine map but I can't find anything in game to tell me how to use it? In the controls setting there's nothing relating to engine maps or wing adjustments?!

Sorry mate, I didn't mean to sound like that... and I didn't realise the names block the start lights, doh!

There is on the consoles, left side cursor buttons, but haven't got a PC copy to hand to look.

You change the wings settings using the in-game menu. There's only 4 keys (up, down, left, right). You can set those keys in options. Default on my PC were the keys 1,2,3 and 4 I think.

Off the top of my head, to increase the wing, you'd choose Right->Up . Which equates to Wing(Right) and +1 aero (Up)

Fully agree, i managed to get half way through season one and figured "**** this ****!" and got rid of it.

Couldn't imagine even bringing myself to complete one season, never mind 7

Maybe I wasn't clear. It is a menu option you use whilst in the car and driving. So you have to navigate this little menu while continuing to drive. Not easy.

In options, where you define the controls, the controls you're looking for are called in-game menu I think.

how do you get to the advanced setup section on the xbox version. I'm fed up using the basic setups and feel and do s much better job. Do you have to progress to a certain point? Im on Season one, race 7 on legend.

Setups are in the timing screen in the pits, one of the options in there, well it is on the PC.

I won my first race in the Lotusin Canada last night! A bit weird though as Di Grassi and Trulli finished 2nd and 3rd, almost like they didn't make a pitstop.

And again! My team mate didn't make a pitstop! What the **** is going on?
Plus, I was held in my pit box for 17 seconds!

Bugs are starting to come out now and I'm starting to wonder what the **** the delelopers have been working on for 3 years. Not happy at the moment. A patch is needed asap. How can you call it an F1 simulation when the game itself doesn't play by the rules?

It is rather annoying the amount of them. Last night I was playing online again and was well in the lead at Silverstone. Came around a corner to find a floating bollard that I assume a previous car had knocked of a corner. I had nowhere to go so hit it head on and it was like hitting another car as span me around about 4 times. Was still there on the 3rd lap but Id learnt my lesson and went wide. How the **** can something be floating in the middle of the track??

Not many take it up online as global leaderboard on PSN bottoms out around player # 95k. That said i dont have any issues finding players at least for a sprint. Ive only ever managed 2 games of qualifying which is quite good fun as you have to do proper out and in laps so have to plan carefully when to change tyres. That said Im wondering if I can complete a lap then spin it around and head into the pits.

Its a shame about this attention to detail. Did they have any beta testers?

yes, but a lot of the bugs were ignored apparently.
to be honest, the general game an playability is good, but like you say, the attention to detail is lacking.

Smacks of a rush job to get it out whilst this season is still going and before the big releases (GT5?).
