F1 2010 Hands-on - Xbox 360 Preview at IGN

Neanderthal 18 March 2010 06:19 PM

Looks nice, I hope it's a proper sim though and you just follow the procession of cars round the track for 2 hours?

Iain Young 18 March 2010 06:26 PM

Looks nice, but no safety cars and no formation laps :(

Rob Walker 18 March 2010 09:43 PM

Nice :)

I'm currently working on the new Lego Star Wars :thumb:

chrisowe 18 March 2010 09:58 PM

Looking good, any F1 game is welcome on the XBox 360.:thumb:

If we included that we'd have nowhere to go for 2011 ;) ...F1 99 (Psygnosis) did have those features (we have some ex-psygnosis staff) & their feedback was it was a bit dull & boring

Possibly, but it could easily be an option that could be turned off for those who didn't want it. The advertising shouts loud about trying to recreate the atmosphere of a real race weekend etc, and includes stuff like doing the press conferences etc (which sounds very dull tbh), but then you miss out some of the essential elements (which can especially have large effect on the race in places like Monaco).

Still anything is better than nothing I suppose :)

The Clone Wars one? Me and a mate of mine are massive, massive fans of the Lego series of games, really looking forward to this one :thumb:

& that's the problem, *most* would/ will turn it off ...& it's such a massive undertaking in both code & ai, it just wasn't deemed worth it

Iain Young 19 March 2010 12:23 PM

Is there an option to turn off the press interviews / contract management / etc side of things? That's what I'd like to do. Just interested in the racing :)

Neanderthal 19 March 2010 12:30 PM

It's a codemasters game, so no ;)

PLEASE just tell us you haven't got some american voice over bloke talking you through the options etc!

Iain Young 19 March 2010 12:51 PM

Or even worse, an american bloke with a tacky rock soundtrack in the background.

Please tell us you are using Fleetwood Mac :)

DazW 19 March 2010 01:44 PM

All voice over stuff is via your manager & engineer & AFAIA they're not american ...well not now USF1 have pulled out

Not sure about 'the chain' either ...as that's only really a UK (BBC) thang

Neanderthal 19 March 2010 02:34 PM

Will the manager say over the radio "we want your team mate to win, crash on the next lap"... ;)

GazTheHat 19 March 2010 02:46 PM

A good friend has also been working on this. When is it out?

Not sure if we've announced a release date yet.. but i'd imagine around about September or October...

Funkii Munkii 20 March 2010 12:18 AM

Looks great, about time we had a decent F1 game again, especially if it handles as well as GRID did :thumb:

GazTheHat 20 March 2010 10:42 AM

GRID was one of the best car games i've played in a good while. Hopefully it is the same, or better.

Will 20 March 2010 05:22 PM

Daz, it looks good mate. What part did you play in making this game then?

ScoobyWon't 20 March 2010 05:43 PM

I like the idea that individual driver's characters will feature.

But does that mean that Herr Schumacher will run you off the road to prevent you winning the championship? :wonder:

Gordo 20 March 2010 06:03 PM

Isn't the problem with trying to make a decent game out of F1 that F1 itself is painfully boring?

ScoobyWon't 20 March 2010 06:20 PM

I dunno, F1GP on the old Amiga 500 was excellent :thumb:

Gordo 20 March 2010 11:11 PM

yep, but F1 was interesting then, with overtaking, close racing etc - today it's just a procession so any 'sim' will be equally dull. if it's more fun then it's not F1?

StickyMicky 21 March 2010 12:20 AM

Out in sept, and being sold off cheap as hell in jan as its got the wrong date on it....

Seen how fast the value of "dated" games become?
