i stilll cant see the point of banging a lighter flywheel on...unless your using it on the track. i could think of better places on my motor to improve for that money.

I will be fitting a clutch so the box will be out and for the small amount of money to get it lightened and balanced i feel it would be worth it.

It is worth it IMO. I had mine done at the same time as a full rebuild so it didn't cost me any extra to have it done apart from the cost of the new flywheel which I need anyway as my old standard one was knackered (wasn't that much more than the standard one really).
As MaDaSS mentioned in his opinion he has gone too light which is not good for torque storage capacity in the flywheel.
Mine is 5kg lighter than the standard flywheel and is allowing the engine to rev more freely IMO without loosing too much of the torque capacity of the original. Mine will be on track days/action days but I use it as a daily driver aswell and it is no problem

.....And scooby1doo1 have you tried API for a price on the flywheel/clutch? Definately worth a phone call IMO

API David posted the other day that you don't wanna go below 6.5kg.

I reckon 7.5-8kg would prob deliver a good compromise between revvability [sic] and inertia....

i'm in the same boat as yourself...i need a new clutch so am toying with a lightweight flywheel while i'm there...it's advised that you get your excisting flywheel skimmed before fitting a new clutch at £100 for the skimming alone i was quoted...to me i think i'd like a change and get a lightweight flywheel for a little extra. 7-8kg sounds favorite

I got quoted 40 for the lightening and skim and 40 for the balancing but i'm hoping to get it a bit cheaper as we put alot of work there way.

We're never out of standard lightened flywheels, unless we are late getting exchanges back

Our machine shop runs all day Friday just creating light flywheels for 5 and 6 speed cars.

6.5 to 7 is ideal on the road - less than that creates the problem that madass has.

I was at yours a couple of years back! LOL, yer never said owt! (jokin)
Yeah it is a pain. How much to change it though? And then i have also had a map tweak to the idle revs, which would probably rise again after the next flywheel was fitted. Its never ending,
