JUNE 2012 UPDATE

The shell has now had it's final prep for painting which will be carried out over the next two weeks.

A vast volume of work has been done on this shell turning it from a rally car into a track machine.
There is still fabrication work required to the rear of the car however this can be completed after paint.

When painted the build begins as much is ready and waiting.

In the last picture, on the wing, is that a scary face or am I mental?

The final paint colour has not yet been decided but it will be similar to the photos above.

It will include some small parts in my company yellow (similar to AA yellow) but very little. Roof scoop, bonnet vents.

Rota Drift 9.5" wheels will be sprayed as black as yer hat and lacquered.

We will be experimenting with some spare panels on a finish. We want a matte finish but there are negative issues with it. so we shall be trying different lacquers on a matte paint.
Problem being that regular lacquers alter the paint colour a lot. We are trying to eliminate this by finding the correct lacquer finish (ie not gloss).

We will get there in the end.

It's usually only the top line premium clears coats that don't effect the colour so much as they are actually 'clear' and don't have a slight yellow tint to them Clive,I find sikkens superior is the best clear I have used for all round quality.

P2 will have a 3 way remote video system onboard and having done some research opted for these bits. This will be linked to GPS to provide live footage from our website www.skullfudge.co.uk. (not yet built)

3 HD camera's to include the new GoPro HD2 - AVCHD JVC and The Oredon Scientific.

HD full screen jobbie

Having also researched sound I have opted for an external mic to capture the sound correctly.
The GoPro Hero2 obviously has a built in mic that works okay but I tried the external mic the other day.

I gave the GoPro a test yesterday in my P1. It was a bit overcast so that didn't help but the stability of the camera was pretty good.

I had the windows half open using external mic that hung down from the camera and was clipped to my camera back on the passenger seat.

Flapping noise is an airfreshner hanging around in the back.

I will be doing further tests with camera's including angle lens degree / camera locations / positioning of mic etc.

Widescreen will be set up for the next one

If anyone is interested I can post the footage to give you an idea of set ups.?

Here is my first test

You will have to excuse what appears to be a suction mount mark on the windscreen.

The night before I braked hard and the Mrs hit the windscreen open mouthed
