Well its half three in the afternoon and my ability to put a string of more than three words together has just returned! All in all it was a good night, bit weird meeting someone you don't know for an entire nights worth of alcohol and fun, but overall it wasn't too bad.

Started off by meeting up in a nice establishment that was bursting with some already drunken totty - which actually provided an excellent ice-breaking opportunity - as you know when you meet someone from work socially the first thing that happens is that you start talking about is ******* work!

Well, part way through "Bob's department is looking to do this to that...." type stuff a really fit and massively drunk bird walks up to the bar right between us as we're talking, then her friend walks up behind her and pulls her jeans down - to reveal she's fully commando! - real conversation changer!

Anyhoo... after that involved pub after pub after pub and finally a club, so I don't remember much after that apart from a blonde, a kebab and a taxi home at around three o'clock this morning - all in all the DCI has a new drinking associate, so a good result all round

After reading a few posts on here I'm somewhat concerned with a couple of users very rapid attempt to bring ghayness into this heterosexual topic, but then again they probably need somewhere to vent their repressed feelings of man love, and I'm comfortable for them to use this thread if they wish

 

Nice one DCI a great result. Ignore the naysayers it's usually an attempt to deflect attention.

Oh gawd. I've got a similar dilema tonight.

Prospects are not so good though:

Mate with his foreign internet fiancé of which I've met three times and everyone else going has bailed. I'm apparently best man for their not too near wedding. Great, if you're into sham weddings and arkward silent moments caused by language barriers and good manners, by not bringing up the subjects of foreigners, immigrants, gold diggers and sham weddings. This basically means I have to keep sober and relatively quiet, otherwise I'll really ***** it up.

I can look at this two ways; this is practice for the wedding night (maintain etiquette, keeping schtum etc). Or its a opertunity to speak my mind and raise some home truths.

I might cry off on this one....

 

My default position in these situations is the truth. My best mate almost married the wrong woman because no one had the guts to tell him. 1 week before the Wedding his brother sat him down and told him the whole thing was a mistake.

Big regret of mine is not doing it sooner.

 

You're right, K. But I think the best time is to catch him when she is not around. Bit tricky since she's moved in to his place. If nobody else is going to say it (was hoping his mum might say something), then I'll have to say it.

Of course I could be utterly wrong on everything, I've become very cynical in my older age. Not helped by my own experience with women (not that they are all gold digging foreigners after a UK work permit ). I would hope I am wrong and he is not that naive, but then again give the bee some honey....
