I like Berghause for my winter wear (well jackets and fleeces at least), top quality gear!

Odd, I'm even further north than you and Berghaus isnt so common as the likes of NF, funny how Brands are more popular in some ares than in others, but then again your from a more heavily populated area so I suppose it maybe evens it's self out?

I have a few North Face jackets, which i bought because they are comfy and warm.

I do see more people wearing NF clothing these days, but not the same 'kind' of people who wear/wore Burberry.

Indeed, people wearing nice warm clothes that last, don't shrink in the wash etc

I blame Gordon Brown

If it has a big logo plastered on it somewhere, then you can pretty much guarantee the pikeys will want to show it off.

My wife bought me a 'Bench' T-shirt for Christmas. I've worn it so as not to upset her but I'm afraid it may well be a brand of the Chav. Am I right?

Like my old Subaru/Prodrive rally jacket

I still wear it to wash the car and to spectate at rallys.

North Face make some really good quality kit, and it's a shame that the ******* have started wearing them and giving them a bad name...... although bear in mind most of them have probably got fake ones that are as waterproof as a tea bag!

Berghaus stuff was the same around here (north Manchester) a few years back with every scally in a cap wearing them. That phase seems to have gone now (on to the next bang on trend logo) but berghaus are still around making great stuff that does a good job (unlike the ******* that used to wear them) for people who want decent, practical gear.

I'm pretty sure the NF phase will move along as well in a year or two, but i'm sure the accountants at their head office are all too happy to cash in on the sales in the meantime - we just have to hope that the quality of their kit doesn't suffer (like Helly Hansens did a few years back - churning out mass produced sh1te for the stripey top brigade).

Burberry have always been gash. Designer gear at designer prices. Some of it looks nice (apart from that tartanesque bull****) but it all falls to pieces in two minutes, no matter what "they" try and tell you!!

Yeh, I use mine to walk the dog. Certainly don't wear it "out" (I used to)

Plus the fact, it had the insulating properties of a wet t-shirt. Cr@p.

Personally, I don't buy into clothes brands - never have. The most extravagant stuff I have is from Next. Wifey buys all of my clothes as I find the whole experience nauseating and ultimately annoying.

As long as the garment looks nice and lasts more than 4 months, I'm happy.

Yeah!
I won one of these in a raffle (the big 3/4 ones) and i can only bring myself to wear it at motorsport type events

It has been worn about 5 times so far, shame as its a pretty decent coat.
I would never buy one though, in fact i am not sure when i could ever wear it again now that i drive an MG

There is of course the fact that Prodrive & Subaru /SWRT / Rally Blue etc are no longer.....

Akin to those who wear football shirts from many years ago with out-of-date sponsors....

Henleys claimed the title round here months ago, after bench and g-star. Chavs are a bit like magpies. They see people wearing something nice and then decide they need to start wearing it, usually just as it starts to go out of fashion. Not a problem though, makes the rest of us look good.

Quite right Simon, thats why I mentioned the bargains to be had from the average charity shop, and also the money you spend there goes on to do a bit of good for those who really need it.

I feel that the label in the clothes are of no significance, its how well they do the job that matters.

One word - Primark

Everything I get from there lasts about the same time as all this overpriced branded crap and looks pretty stylish too in comparison, just a fraction of the price

Infact everything I'm wearing now bar my trainers is from there

Fleece - £6
Jumper - £4
T-shirt - £4
Cargo pants - £8
Boxers - 3 pairs for £2.94
Socks - 5 pairs for £2

Primark is so working class!

To be honest if Primark sold Goretex coats, I'd shop there.
