Is "The North Face" clothing becoming the new burberry?
Whilst doing what little Christmas shopping I was required to do and the subsequent sale hunting my wife is insisting on dragging me too, I've noticed that every 2nd or 3rd person has either a The North Face jacket similar to a 90s Puffa or for the ladies a The North Face gillet (Lifejacket that makes you look like Marty McFly to you and me)
Everyone seems to have something with The North Face on. Easily indentified by the little emblem on the right shoulder. I noticed that many BBC news reporters wore these jackets a few years ago but it seems the upper working/lower middle masses have decided to embrace this fashion status together with their Minis and X5s.
Anyone else noticed this - or indeed joined in?

I'd hope this not to be true (as I own a fair bit), but certainly outdoor clothing is becoming popular and I guess North Face is "the" brand.

my North Face jacket with internal fleece is the best item of clothing i have... i bought it for warmth, not as a fashion status...
i had to get the matching gloves and hat though
each to their own..... i haven't seen any "yobbo" types wearing them, just 30 something yuppies round here !!!

Don't think its the new Burberry as i have yet to see a chav wearing The North Face. I do think its became the middle class causal wear of choice though as i've noticed lots of absolute tubes wearing the branding.

Its becoming more main stream that's for sure, I have noticed people wearing it going around the local pubs, kind of like a fashion item?
It's a slippery slope from here, they will be banning it in nightclubs soon like Rockport

Burberry actually make some really nice clothes and the prorsum range has some stunning coats\jackets. it's just the classic check that the chav's claimed. Not sure why NF has become popular. the jacket tend to be very plain but perfectly functional for what they're designed to do. Not really the remit of the scum class.

The wife wears a fair bit of North face gear. Usually when out walking the dog more than anything.Although fairly expensive they are great at doing there job..
When i went to the European markets in Manchester the other week, there was a lot of "trendy" type people wearing Barbour clothing. It seemed very popular whereas Barbour was always a Farmer/Hunting type brand..
BTW...Cant stand all that AF,Paul Smith,Bench type clothing..... Just ****e,but then again i am getting on a bit

Can't see anything wrong in having a look in the charity shops. You get top quality items as new and which have been cleaned all for a fraction of the price. Better value than the sales too.

I have some North Face gear - a gore-tex lightweight shell type thing and a warm winter coat (not a puffa). They are fine, but I don't like the label on the shoulder, and have become more conscious of it since buying the stuff 2 or 3 years ago. I feel like a sheep every time I see someone else and their North Face branded shoulder. It's enough to put me off buying it in the future as I hate visible branding (it's a sure sign of someone trying too hard).
Having said all this, I think you might be a bit behind the times - isn't SuperDry Japan the new Chav clothing of choice? I am seeing it everywhere.
