UK drug smuggler executed
I think the comment's of this thread are pretty spot on TBH, our softy softy approach to crime clearly isn't working, We tried it and failed it, A more hard punishment fits the crime type of justice is needed now IMO
Ok fair enough, Never noticed it had been mentioned earlier on

I'm all for tougher punishments, but killing people is just wrong. How does this make us any better than the criminals we want killed?

The reason that drug smuggling is so rife and blatant in this country is because the penalties for doing this and getting caught make it seem worth the risk.

The guy was caught with 4kg of drugs trying to enter China which has the death penalty for drug trafficking. What other conclusions are the Chinese prosecution supposed to draw?
Did you pack this case yourself? Yes
Has you been asked to carry anything for anyone else? No
Has anyone tampered with your luggage? No
so the drugs are yours end of story job done off with his head!
Maybe if the UK punished drug traffickers in the same way there would be less drugs in the country.
You can't blame the Chinese for their stance on drug smugglers.

It's a pretty much loose loose situation for everybody, but I think taking this guy out has saved quite a lot of lifes in itself

Not really. It was a sideways allusion to the idea that views like the OP's almost invariably come from Sun or Mirror readers.
The thought of chinese "justice" being applied over here is a pretty frightening one, as I'm sure you would agree?
I was suggesting that the original poster's comments were somewhat undermined by his post being riddled with spelling and grammatical errors.

I bet if you asked 100 drug smugglers if they would take the risk of smuggling into China where the penalty is death if you are caught or to a country where the penalty is a prison term, what do you think the vast majority of those drug smugglers would say?
This guy had never had an examination for bi-polar outside of China, He has spent the last 6 years living in Poland, Hardly any contact with his family, the only mention of diagnosis for bi polar was a examination of 2 emails, hardly scientific !
I belive that every country has its own rules because the majority of the population feel that their rules reflect how they want to live in there own country.
Why do we in this country feel we have the right to condem everbody who lives by a different set of rules, and even worse, always consider our rules are better .
When in Rome, do as a Roman !

[QUOTE=sarasquares;9123028]If you asked 100 British DD then maybe, but the Chinese drug problems are still booming .. regardless of some Brit getting caught.
The irony of this case is that all along this argument about the Chinese Government protecting the Chinese people from drug smugglers; when it should be about how the Chinese people need protecting from the Chinese Government, they directly or indirectly have killed more of their own citizens than drugs ever will. And yet they are held up on here as a fine example....words fail me
Maybe it is maybe it isnt wrong to kill depending on the situation, but this guys drugs could have killed hundreds/thousands?, so where does "its wrong to kill" fit in there then?

Fair enough, if he was examined by a mental health team he may well have been diagnosed with Bi Polar. His family said he suffered from it. If the family were that concerned that he was mentally ill then they should have made sure he wouldn't be able to end up in China in the first place.

Although looking at your sig I can see why you might disagree.
