not had any snow at all round here. What we do have though is about an inch of ice on the roads that has been there for about 4 days.
Only the main roads are getting gritted the residential areas are just abandoned!

Please don't take this the wrong way, but the snow isnt a problem, it's the thawed snow that then re-freezes to sheet ice that is and no amount of winter tyre is eally going to help you on that.

If it stayed below freezing all day and we got a decent amount of snow we would probably be OK.

Whoever said - earlier in the thread - that it wasn't snowing on Monday in Reading has gotta be joking. I had to walk home from Reading town centre (to Shinfield... about 2-3 miles, in leather-soled shoes!) as buses were suspended and traffic gridlocked. The snow was about 3-4" deep and still coming down heavily...

... I then had to walk another two mile round-trip to rescue my girlfriend (who's 7 months pregnant) who'd abandoned her car after nearly being hit by a lorry. That was a nerve-wracking walk home trying to make sure she ddn't fall..! In places the snow was 5-6" ...

It must have put at least 8 inches of snow down in the last 4 days here in the High Peak Derbyshire.
I have had time off work, but my wife had to go in.So i have driven here there for the last few days and the conditions have been atrocious. I am really suprised that we havent had a bump,or been bumped into...

I had to go and check my parents were ok and get them a few supplies.. nearly 3 hours to do a 8 mile journey..

So i have been out and about most days...and have probably driven for about 12 hours total in the last 4 days...

Number of gritters seen........0.

Its pathetic with the amount of council tax we have to pay.In our village we get absolutely nothing for our money, apart from the bins emptied fortnightly..

If our council tax was kept and spent within our community our streets would be paved in gold..

Bloody council to$$ers...

We've had no snow here in Scunny for 4 days now and it's still an inch thick

Again after dropping the Mrs off this morning at 6am I was drifting every roundabout (unintentionally) on the way home

Thing is thought when your tired and the back end comes out, your relaxed enough not to lift off and make it worse, rather just opposite lock a little and enjoy the scenery

Glad we postponed going to my sister's until tomorrow, we would have been stopped on the A380 for a couple of hours and then on the A38 after that with all the bad accidents that happened.
