3hrs to get home, 35 mile trip. Had no trouble getting to within 7 miles of my house, but the last 7 miles took nearly 1.5hrs. The snow has now stopped, and is melting now as its turned to rain and its currently chucking it down (Stevenage, Herts).

6hrs to drive 7 miles. There was snow but wasn't settling where I was nr j11 m4. Got on the hill on b3270 past foster wheeler building and it was chaos.

Got a push up the hill by BMW driver behind so they aren't all w*nkers

My office in in Winnersh Triangle and the roads around there were completely snarled up.

I left the Scoob in the office car park and took the train home to West London. Wasn't even delayed!

Good move on my part as some people tried to drive to Wokingham for instance then had to give up and come back to the office.

Saw lorries and cars sliding all over the place!

Only -1?! You wuss! It hit -3 here in Notts, where it never normally even snows until most of Africa is under 6' of snow!

High Wycombe was a nightmare last night.

Thought I'd catch a lift with my bro - took an hour to go 200 meters. Parked up & I walked home (luckily I had all my gear), he stayed at work then drove home at 11 - got home at 2am (Bourne End).

A40 clear this morning - I walked - should have cycled.

Top Tip - Wear socks Outside your shoes. Yes you look like a ***, but you don't slip in ice.

Saw -10 deg C last night on my way home at about 6pm, rose to about -8 when we were out at 11pm. Not supposed to get above -5 today, good 6" of snow built up now and it's snowing again

Unusual to get quite so cold close to the coast, these silly temps are usually for places like Alford and Aviemore. X5 copes okay, RX8 has full set of snow tyres but only goes out if necessary and the STI sits in the garage (where it's been for 3 yrs now)

You still based in Denmark or are you back in the UK? Think the last time I saw you're car was at the SIDC day in Alford around three year's ago think you got the quickest time of the day IIRC, Any plans for it next year?

Most people have hardly ever driven on ice or snow in recent years so they have no experience of slippery conditions and are likely to be frightened of it anyway because of all the media hype about it.

In previous times we used to get snow every year and were used to it.

3-4 miles of non-stop ice.
Same here in Scunny Gary

Even the main roads haven't been gritted, absolute carnage for the industrial estates. I've never been sideways as much as I have in the last 3 days in the Pug. I'm not even trying; literally daudling in 2nd at 10mph round roundabouts and the back end is all over the place

One car was on its roof a couple days ago down the major hill in Scunny - Motlash to those who know the area. Rozzers didn;t even move it, just cordened it off with tape and left it by the roadside Only reason the snow/ice is subsiding on main roads is due to amount of traffic on them, but then every night when it freezes over again

Ah well, 2 weeks off work for xmas and only the Mrs to drop off/pick up - can;t complain.

Precisely Les , added to which nowdays tyres are almost no doubt wider on average with less grip together with more electriky devices which the average punter will believe solves everything

But dont lets get in the way of a little Psl trolling

Well just to pee you all off....

It was -6 when I went out to my car this morning, -4 degrees in the car, and off to work in twelve minutes, as usual.
To find that they've gritted the road up to work even tho' the bless 'ems are off till January.
And they gritted it again today...... There's only three of us in the place.

LOL

Chaos here today, I do find it strange how the council cannot afford to grit the roads. Yet can pay managers of failing departmants 100k's a year.

I lost the back end of the impreza this morning, if it was not for my driving skills i would have planted the car into a bus.

Nope and even my 20 yr old mini cooper isn't having a problem in the snow but then again I am willing to bet you are using summer tyres on your cars then wonder in amazement why your cars don't work in the snow

If you could have seen the amount of trucks at the salt mine in Winsford this morning you would have to wonder what the highways agency are doing with it all ! Took me 3.5 hours to get a load , the queue was well over a mile long and growing fast. Delivered it to Wokingham this afternoon , the gritters were all parked up neatly !!!!

Was down at the office today. VERY slow traffic but all ok.

Loads of snow at home

I drove the 75 miles back home and got within 30 yards of the front door when my trusty Renault Legover got stuck

It's now parked outside my neighbours house until the snow thaws!

Quick Reply: Anyone else stuck on their car in the snow?
