cheers for the info but most of those turbos are for the USDM legacy's which are very different, mainly 2.5 with single scroll turbos. i have already upgraded from the small standard td04hla twin scroll to a vf36, so i want to keep the twinscroll setup but maybe upgrade the turbo in a few months when i get bored with it!

Hi,

The kits are not short ratio its the final drive on my car which is standard at 4.444 this makes the gearing a bit shorter.

The kits are similar to UK 5 speed ratio.

Hope that clears things up a bit

cheers

Think thats the same final drive on my V3 STi RA AFAIK, whats the top speed on your set up then?

Going to be looking a box soon me thinks once this box blows, but just going to wait till it blows before I buy.

I take it the kit would be a straight swap into a P1 casing?

Just like pouring a Guinness - good things come to those who wait... Except I'm not a fan of the black stuff. (Where the hell is this analogy going?! )

Hi,

to be fair I dont know what boost its running as we were not the last ones to tweak it.

I would suggest a power run on the dyno to see where we are starting from.

Cheers

Hi,

these engines will generally be happy at 1.9 bar but if memory serves yours would not take any more without detting, time for a re-fresh maybe.

As I stated get to us for a power run to see where we are and take it from there.

cheers

Sent in my VF37 to be redone as a SC46 twin scroll, can't wait to get it back. I also went ahead and had them do a P&P, high temp coating and also the 3 inch inlet. I've heard the 3" inlet can be a bit of a PITA to install, but I talked to them and we agreed it's probably due to people swapping it directly and having parts in the way. In my situation I already have the intake manifold off (doing phenolic spacers) and everything else out of the way which should make install easier. Anyone have experience with a 3" inlet SC46 twin scroll?

What other supporting mods? EJ207 or EJ257? Sorry if it's already been posted further back.

Hi,

if you are now running 410 BHP why do you want to run more boost.

If its doing that sort of power at 1.55 bar then leave it alone, if the mapper could have run more boost then surely he would.

More boost however does not necessarily mean more power, we have had many cases where more boost gives less power as the thing chokes up and I imagine thats the case with your car.

Whats the point of stressing out the engine by running higher boost than is required, I wonder if this is now a new ***** waving contest, its moved on from BHP figures to "how much boost are you running".

Pop down Sat and we will give your scoob a power run, that way we can see exactly where your map is at.

Cheers
Kev

About time I subscribed to this thread, am gathering parts for a 2.1 avcs build at some point (has been put back recently as life has got in the way) but when it is underway I'm looking to get close to 500 on a stock location turbo, but want to try and maintain good driveabilty, ie nice smooth power curve, and not too much lag

Hi,

either the SC46 billet or the SC54 billet will do you a good job, the 46 spooling quicker but not giving as much top end as the 54.

I run an SC54 billet on my car, its a 2.33, never done one on a 2.1 stroker though so don't know how it will perform but there has been lots of SC46 Billets on 2.1 ltr engines with great success.

Unless you run a meth mix or exotic fuels I doubt very much you will see 500BHP from a 46 though, close maybe.

That said we now have a choice of exhaust housings for the SC46, the standard one which is more than proven and a new version for higher top end, as yet not tested so we dont know what, if any, effect it will have on spool.

welcome to this epic thread.

cheers
Kev

Hi Kev

Thanks for the info, I have a friend running an sc46 on a stock 2ltr sti and he is very happy with the result, good low down punch and good spool.

Ideally I just want to run on vpower and not go down the meth route, idea is to keep the car nice and simple, turn the key and go rather than mess around with different fuels but we shall see, I once thought it was good enough with 260 bhp ... lol

I was hoping my build would be underway by now but is now likely to be towards the end of the year, am always happy to be a guinea pig running an sc54 on a 2.1 if no-one has done it by then (but I expect someone will have)

Iain

Fair enough kev
Forget it then as I don't like ***** waving lol. I was saying it was 410 hp before I've had resent headers uppipe and 20% meth mapped on the rd so no figures.
And just thought it would be of intrest to the thread thats all.
I asked for a safe map but after talking to a few people I've been thinking of more boost,
As it was at 1.7 before, thought I'd ask you first
Thanks anyway Mick

Hi,

get the car down so we can see where we are, it is of interest to the thread I just worry there is a new trend in pushing boost levels un necessarily.

Hope to see you soon.
