I just enjoy the SC42's ability to keep going psychotically when you floor it, but combined with a larger capacity engine I bet the combination's bang on.
It's tempting to go 2.5 or even 2.35 but I just can't justify the cost (and can't afford the fuel I'd use!)

- surprised you didn't just go for a '42, but I suppose with the '46 the extra is already there if you want to go FMIC. Bet it still flies though.

Went to andyf yesterday and was sent home because the 20g in the car was a copy.
I want to keep the oem look so hence why staying with sti topmount and oem Sti injectors.
It's just going to be a quick road car.
Would love the sc42.

if your looking at high 300's then i would consider a front mount mate, black to hide it a bit if you want but the top mount gets mega heat soak.
Its great, power delivery comes in very smooth so not having to rev the crap out of it to get it going. 2.5 is def the way to go

Yup i agree the forged 2.5 does make a nice easy driving road car,its just a shame that your limited to how much power/torque you can put reliably through them, and for some,450/470 just aint enough im affraid.

Fully forged 2.5 here with an SC46 FMIC and other supporting mods. Out spools my old 340bhp VF35 classic, but has 470/480 bhp/lbs at just 1.7bar IIRC
Real benefit of 2.5 is response, torque and boost threshold.
I'd argue that for the road and providing you don't want to go over 500 bhp 2.5 with SC46 very hard to beat.
If you have 2.5 the SC46 is a bit of a no-brainer!

I love the SC46- I think its the best turbo for spooltime and power delivery on a 20% whiff of meth my car produced the graphs you see here after Bob Rawle mapped it. BEAR IN MIND as its a 2.5 we had to limit boost t0 1.7bar so this old snail had MUCH more air to give its just the 2.5 SCDB and wandering headgaskets that stopped it.
523ft/lbs of torque at 4500ish rpm!!
fantastic device and highly recommended.

This is an API built 2.5 forged motor on V5 heads with a Front mount, Alkatek Ecu, and 850cc injectors mapped by bob rawle.
it runs 1.7bar but having just done a headgasket at Castle Combe I would echo he sentiments on this thread.
They drive brilliantly and have sledgehammer midrange but you just cant get the things Strong.
I am dropping the boost from this level back to a more sensible 1.4bar so should still make 420ish HP
Will let you know.

2.5 will let go at 500 most times so stay below that and should be fine. 450/460 bhp and then what ever torque it makes will make for a ballistic road car anyway

Hi Kev,
I have a 2.1 CDB+Big port AVCS heads (exhaust ported) with Lateral FMIC and RCM Header + syvecs
I'm wondering if it's possible to clock the compressor of SC46 of 180° ? what about the wastegate bracket ?
The aim is to shorter the pipe length and I'll save some space between engine and firewall.
Thanks

Hi,
they can be clocked if you grind off the tiny locating tab on the core, you can then move it round, wastegate bracket however is a different matter and a custom one will need fabricating.
Cheers
