Have you felt/pressed the rubber with your palm/nails after a lengthy hoon. Do they get really hot, soft and 'sticky' (relative to 'normal' road tyre compounds)?

 

Ive got a few videos from sept aat grand prix track and the ring rain and fog flat out not any issues

 

I was right it is wild on the track/road,it looks and sounds like it spools in a heartbeat fud,what intake and filter setup have you got fitted mate.

I'm hoping somebody (either from SC or from the SNet community) can answer a couple of generic queries I've got regarding the SC range of Turbo's vs the alternatives.

This isn't intended to be an "aggressive" query on price, but the summary basically comes down to:

What is so good about the SC turbos?

I normally pride myself on doing my own research, but this is a long *** thread to go through so I'm hoping for a shortcut by posting this question

Basically I'm looking for ~380-400bhp from my 2005 WRX STi with a nice quick spool for daily driver use and the odd B-Road blast.

Based on reputation alone, this makes the SC38 turbo the favorite option - it's highly spoken of for a nice quick spool and comfortable at this power range with the appropriate supporting mods. Appropriate mods in this context would be:

Ported Headers/UP
Sports Cat
Fuel Pump
Panel Filter
Boost Solonoid

I've recently been alerted to the option of a billet wheel converted TD05-18G with a 7cm^2 Exhaust housing which has been advertised to me as a quick spooling turbo capable of ~380bhp.

I'd like to think I'm always doing the best for my car, so I'll go with the better option regardless of price - but what I'm asking is what exactly makes the SC turbo's worth the money? The option for the TD05-18G is considerably cheaper but if it's for a reason - I'll give it a miss!

I'm not trying to provoke anything with this post, I'm just genuinely out to learn about my options properly before committing either way.

we developed the SC Billet range in 2009, its continude to be upgraded throughout with better and better aero dynamic Billet alloy wheels, making them 2nd to none out there.

Lots of companies have tried to copy them since 2009, some have simply copied the aero of a standard compresser wheel yet make it from billet alloy simply to get the word "billet" on their product yet the whole idea behind the design is we can cut on a 5 axis CNC machine a more aero dynamic bladed wheel and yet also make it around 33% lighter than its cast predesesor by removing more waste yet retaining the strength by the use of Billet alloy.

Our heavy involvement with motor sport enables us to test new designs in a harsh enviroment, if the products pass full on racing or rallying then we can safely sell them knowing our customers will get great value for money with no issues

Simple answer to your question though is yes its well worth the extra, sc series tend to get better spool and better peak power compared to standard version of the turbo's.

Kev, you maybe able to shed some light on this. I have picked up up a 60 plate saloon that I'm told has a sc46 "hybrid" turbo on it. I have no idea what hybrid means if anything at all. Is there any light youcan shed on this or would it be best to take aa trip up to you guys, have you remove it and let me know what the deal is?

Just you're not close to me so was hoping you may be able to suggest something.

Is there any way to tell when it's fitted if it's a sc46, sc46 billet or a "hybrid" version?

Hi,

today we are testing, back to back a 2002 WRX mapped by us some years ago with its standard TD04 turbo, then again with our all new entry level SC32 Billet which is a billet wheeled TD04, rebuilt sold on an exchange basis.

Base run this morning has shown a nice healthy 274 BHP, good to start with which makes the challenge even harder.

Fitting the new SC32 as I type, results to follow later.

kev looks a great result was wondering you couldn't pop a graph of a sc42 and sc46 on a forged 2.5 on vpower, or provide any info one boost points, spool characteristics etc

this is with conservative tune and low boost, we thought it was autronic's fault, but as we later found out two pistons were cracked

 

No worries kev although I'm curious to what Simon knows about the blue one he is on about and if it is actually mine...... Still scared lol

Anyhow, as the word hybrid stands for nothing it's either a standard or billet version. So now the issue is when can I come up, how long do you need the car for and if it's the standard version is it possible to upgrade to the billet wheel and if so how much? Again how long do you need the car for and would it require remapping it?
