Why drive nice cars at all? I certainly wouldn't want to own a nice car and then drive it to work everyday or even worse only drive it every other weekend and leave it sitting around doing nothing inbetween.

The way i did it was because i went from 17-20 and wasted thousands on cars and realised what a waste it was, and then i'd just get bored of whatever i'd got in a month or so.

Being able to drive dozens of different cars just a phone call away makes perfect sense. You never get bored of one and if it goes wrong it costs you nothing. All you pay for is petrol.

As for lying to dealers to get test drives that's a whole different matter. It's dishonest and i could never bring myself to do that, it's beasically fraud and deception.

I too remember all the times he's threatened people.

He's an utter ****. He thought he'd jump in on this thread and have a go at me as i guess he saw me as an easy target.

Sadly for him i've had him on the defensive all the way through now, and have shown him for the bully he is (or wants to be) and in his last posts he's despretly trying to defend his life, his character and his previous actions and show what a nice guy he really is as he realsied i'd completely called him out.

Oh, and now he's done with any kind of interaction with me...because he's realised that it isn't going his way and he can't upset me or threaten me in anyway what so ever or get to me like he thought he could.

I'm picky, choosy, know what i like and don't like and aren't afraid to express myself. I tell it like it is/how i see it. I know what is good and what is crap (as experienced by me) and will not back away from what i believe

I'll admit i've done more in life than most and so are more qualified to comment on a lot more things than most

If someone doesn't like that and gets jealous and doesn't want to believe it than fine, doesn't matter to me, i'll still give my opinion none the less.

If someone wants to start insulting me then i'll defend myself.

densedaz jumped in because he's a bully and saw what he thought was an easy target. Then he got called out as a bully and has run away.

Maybe some people don't want to believe what i posted, even though as i explained it's hardly unbelievable and quite normal behaviour for a guy in his 20's - going out, driving nice cars, going traveling a lot.

At the end of the day being called a bullsh1tter is one thing and i can handle that but showing yourself to be and being called out and proven to be a bully is far far worse unluckily for daz.

 

When i first joined the car club i could leave N'pton at 2pm, be in london KingsX picking it up at 4pm, and home by 6pm. That was in 2000. The last year i was a member in 2007 i'd be leaving at 2pm and not home until 9pm. Traffic has got that much worse in those few years It became a chore tbh and took away the fun some what. Also, once you've driven every make there is there isn't anything to look forward to. Looking at the club website now there aren't any cars that i either haven't driven a version of or something very similar.

I get bored v quickly. I'd usually get a car mon-fri then go out partying somewhere sat and sun (and obviously not driving, lol). Sometimes i'd even take the car back early on wed or thur as i was bored of it. Pretty much anything modern ended up like this in the end. I picked up an Evo VIII once in 2005 so it was pretty new/cool then and hated it by the time i'd got to the M1 services

I actually hated driving for no return - i.e. driving to work the same route every day. Another chore not pleasure. Now i live 2 miles from work and can walk and i love it. I live in the second best city in the UK for public transport so have no problems getting around. I simply don't need a car and don't feel any desire to get anything as a toy because i've driven everything i want to so there isnt' that temptation to buy something silly.

I do admit that a month or two ago i came very close to either buying something used for about £40k that would not lose value over a year or buying something new for £100k that also wouldn't (if such a car existed). Then i came to my senses - wtf was i thinking? If i had £40k of my money sitting outside on the drive right now i would probably cry, stupid, stupid stupid idea. So even though i'm good at not giving in to urges i still get them and did nearly give in a while ago The petrol head is still within me but is tamed and dormant for now

When houses reach rock bottom i will buy again, somewhere to stay for the next few years and probably buy an old 911 too, take it to bits in the garage and then spend the next few years trying to put it back together on Sunday afternoons But until then, i won't be buying a car

 

Oh, and it's pretty much the same for the rest of my previous life....

Going to the same clubs for years - got bored. Then all the decent clubs i went to in London, b'ham, Leeds, Sheffield etc shut down too. Clubbing is crap now compared to 1995-2005.

Going to Ibiza twice year for 7 years - got bored and again it changed so much it wasn't even fun anymore. Same with other euro cities - too much effort for too little reward - it was always the same. Then the £ went crap too so it cost a lot more which made it even more annoying if i wasn't having so much fun.

Countries you've visited will still be the same when you go back. There may be one or two new things to try but essentially the magic is gone - it's old hat, you've been there and done it all before.

Seeing a bird you like - the first couple of weeks you want to boff her 24/7 but then after a couple of months you're bored of it/her. Repeat ad infinitum....

Basically, ANYTHING that is desirable is only desirable when you can't have it, or can only have it rarely. As soon as something is on tap whenever you want it it will eventually become boring no matter how amazing or great you initially thought it was.

I realised my lifestyle was unfufilling and unsustainable, i was running out of things to do and places to go and just getting unhappier by the day.

So i stopped it all. Sold everything i owned (apart from books/cds/2 watches), left my job and went traveling for a few months to work out what i wanted to do....

So now that is why i lead a simple life of simple pleasures and have never been happier

The main point of the thread as i see it and I was initially trying to make/agree with is that it is the simple things in life that you don't get bored of and these things that you should covet and make sure you can always have and do.

Sadly a couple of internet bullys started abusing me as soon as i said this so we got drawn out to where we are now. Well done stilover and daz

 

I posted my simple pleasures, stilover said i/they were boring, i put them into context, then he jumped on me and started insulting me and then you called me a (unt as your first thing you said.

So yes, i am totally without blame, that is all yours and sti's.

daz - you go around insulting people, calling them the worst kind of insults, threatening to put people in hospital, threatening to put people in wheel chairs etc. It's clear to see you are not one of the "good guys" and are just here to cause trouble imo.

 

I certainly get the impression that some people thought how can I (me/nat) be happy living a simple life now when i say i was the complete opposite before. How dare he have thrown it all away/given it up to live in the middle of nowhere and not even have or care about having a car?!?

It's not perhaps jealousy of what i had done or had but jealousy of the fact that i rejected it all (it all being the things that a lot of people really want or at least think they want) and now am so much happier doing without all the things that a lot of people desire.
