Never had a problem with Area52 myself, use them for every bit of work on my car, been sat there at half 7 at night and they have still had time for me. Great company and great people.

Sad to hear about your engine mate, hope you get something sorted and find out where and what went wrong. Until then this topic is rather useless as it just gives companies bad names without them being at fault.

this is b0ll0x!!

talk about follow the leader. another person posts and then you start to post about your engine.

sorry mate moding is a mugs game as "you stated" and your the mug!!!
you cant have an engine run for a year and then it lets go after a remap and then blame the engine builder. Where is your common sense???? you really shouldnt be modding a car if this is the way you act. you obviously know nothing.

sorry but if you ask me this is just wrong.
you have slated a company just for fun cos this thread means nothing.

hi have just stumbled across this thread and from what i have read here it is not really fair to say the tuners engine, in this case area52 build has let go six months or later after you have had it built, it could be a million things that went wrong and usually if its the tuners mistake the engine surely would have packed up a week later not six months. and you also say it was mapped then packed up well sorry if that was me the first person i would want answers from would be the mapper, i hazzard to say it was fine before mapping was it not?? the garage has been named and slandered on here yet the mapper remains annonymous, interesting. i know nothing about area52 and i never will as i am a scoobyclinic goer but there are a lot of other issues obviously with your car and as many people have also said i would get an engineers report before slamming someones work

ive been watching motor sports long enough to know that some times when an engine fails, it may of been caused by a 2p rubber ring/washer that broke.

**** happens

i hope the little fella you was driving round wasnt too gutted and you sort your engine out soon

kind regards

possible that a sensor or something failed since the build or even map, the hike in power could have been the straw that broke the camels back, regarding a sensor, so to speak, resulting in neither fault for builder or mapper? maybe a possibility ....

A simple fact of life im afraid, the more power you go for the greater the chance of the engine letting go at some point.

i just cant understand how you can stand there and name and shame area 52 yet about 20 people have asked who this super qualified mapper was and all goes quiet.
if your going to proportion blame you need to state all the facts not just point the finger with nothing to back it up. if you can prove area 52 to be at fault fair enough say what you want, but until then i would have said nothing

It is a bit funny that these things happen - person gets their car modified and tuned to within an inch of its life, then after 6 or 12 months the engine lets go, and its all the fault of the people who did the work

And of course, in that 6 or 12 months, the car owner has driven around like the local vicar and never gone over 3000 revs

to be honest if i didnt deal with engine tuner i was going to use area 52, and if engine tuner wont around then i would happily use area 52. i have spoken to jase a few times and to be honest he has been very helpfull and profesional.

sometimes you get customers that no matter what you do is not enough. sometimes you just cant please everyone in this case theres two sides to the story and frankly its getting too complicated now.

type R brad sorry about what happend to your car and i wish you all the best mate she will only come back better

not if you do your homework find a place with actual cars to back up there credentials. see that where ever you decide how long the company has been up running and the sucess it has had either via motorsport or physically seeing and driving cars that that garage has produced. there are many people who have there cars running a high state of tune and have encounterd no issues at all. you get out what you put in if you use budjet parts and cheaper garages then i would say your a mug. if your going to do something like this do it properly do it once, cut corners and god knows what problems you will encounter

I think WR 1mposter is being too polite as hes had nothing but trouble with that engine since it was built been running like a bag of **** since the start ! finaly got remapped to get it running better and then it let go ! i for one will never use Area 52 tossers !
also they blocked his car in when he went for the remap and basically used menacing tactics to extract several hundred pounds from him ! Do they sound like good people to do business with ! hmmm I dont think so if it was me i think i would have gone mental !
Hope you get car sorted Martin ! Make ur mind up yourself u lot and grow up !

Hmmmm still not quite sure how to take this, if we dont get the full story then we cannot make up our minds, BUT he ran the car for 6k miles "like a bag of spanners", not really a good thing to do when you should have taken it straight back.
No information of if the car was burning oil like an Iraqi oil field, or if it was running bad, why it was mapped again?!!!! if its the engine thats sh@gged, why map it?!

Full story or no story, end of.

Tony

It does appear that your friend has had a problem that he probably should have gone straight back for if not happy at the start but at the very least after such a long time and 6k miles, when he has a re-map and the engine lets go, then it sounds that he has not a leg to stand on - bit like the guy in the other thread who changed the clutch and had the bloke come back looking for him to recompense the puncture repair

Secondly, why would Area52 "block his car in and use (again quotes) "menacing tactics" to extract several hundred pounds from him"?? Sounds to me that your friend never paid his bill

And I take it he paid because it sounds as if the money was indeed extracted? Therefore it must have been owed otherwise he should have gone to the police.

So someone who never paid his bill, or some of it, was found and asked for the money (and to be honest I would be angry and upset if someone had owed me money for that long) and then paid it and then comes on here to mouth off the people to whom he owed the money but hadn't mentioned that bit (obviously) until you piped up?

How do you think it reads?

I don't think this thread should continue to be honest. I was going to muppetise it but now I think it's not even worthy of that

Nice one Woza.

Read what is available and apply caution. Everyone is free to take the information how they choose. You can't win on this forum.

I know how I would use this information and that's all that matters to me.

"Holier than thou" attitude that often comes forward makes me smile.

It is almost pointless adding anything more, it just gives people more things to moan about and get on their high horses... Talking of horses...
