put my car on surrey rolling road last saturday and with the scooby ecu chip fitted it made 295hp /250lbft, thats 223whp and 178lbft of torque at the wheels and its an auto , not bad considering that it should only be 208hp std. the a/f ratio and boost is also spot on, just another testiment to how good these chips really are .

Default ecu chip

The problem i had was it was cutting out at 5000revs just like a rev limiter put ecu back to original map and the car ran fine, so checked coil packs and found fine cracks in them i temporarily insulated them and put chip back in and she ran fine.

Good news! It's nearly always something simple

I recommend having an uprated fuel pump before fitting a chip just in case the standard pump isn't beefy enough due to age, but it won't affect the map to have it fitted after.

Can i use an ECU marked with IC (220hp WRX Wagon MY94) , put in there the chip, and then install the ecu on a WRX MY95 with TD05 and so on??

i want it so because the IC ecu has the socket allready so i dont need to put the socket in the original Z4 ECU from the MY95 WRX

Still got a problem at about 5000 rpm . It stutters and then pulls.
like a missfire but all coilpacks and maf have been changed.

could it be the boost solenoid at all?

Suppose i need to get a boost guage to see if it spikes or dips at that point.

This is not a problem, Enrico. The chip will upgrade the firmware to Z4 anyway and the map will be TD05. Just remember that you won't be able to use that ECU without the chip enabled in that car as the compressor map will be wrong (TD04). Might be worth writing a note on the ECU casing to that effect to warn a future owner?

Hi Simon, a boost gauge would be a good investment, but the boost control solenoid wouldn't give misfire-type symptoms. Did you change the plugs when you did the coilpacks? Are the plugs gapped correctly?

plugs were changed last july 7000 miles ago by the previous owner so don't know about the gap on them. Scratching my head abit.
Will check all the hoses and vacuum pipes again as i changed the turbo at the same time as fitting the chip.

What symptoms does the boost solenoid give?

ta.

As you'd expect, inconsistent boost levels. Generally though, either no boost over what the actuator is set to or overboost spikes causing fuel cut.

Were the coilpacks replaced with new?

Sorted it now i hope. Bought some carb cleaner , sprayed all 3 pipe connectors of the boost solenoid and a lot of crap came out of it.
It must of been sticking at 5,000+ revs, no problems on the journey to and from work today , fingers crossed its sorted!
Just the Gearbox left to do!!!!!!

Ta,

Simon.

hello from germany again :-)

my chips are here and will be installed this week.
one question:

you have marked the chips, cause two are for JDM WRX (RA and non-RA) and one for my STi V2.
The Chip for the STi V2 is marked with "STi V2".
Can you tell me which differences are in the map between the WRX chips and my STi V2 Chip?

cheers

The 'v2' on the STI chip refers to version 2 of the map and not the version of Impreza that it's for. The differences in the maps are mainly to accommodate the slightly different cams in the STIs.
