Seriously buddy, these guys were one banana short of a bunch.
Fix their C**k up, and relish the fact that you can fix a car better than these hairy knuckled, one brain cell'd, mentally challenged, turd chasers.

Cracking read mate, pity this as I sold a very low mileage engine out of a 2.5 STI Spec D recently that you could have plopped your heads onto and off you go and sold the AVCS heads wish I had spotted this but then you wouldt have made me laugh so much

Curse you Dunx (shakes fist)

Now I can't get this out of my head and wander around singing to myself !

Everyone already thinks that I have lost the plot (why wasn't I made aware that there was a plot ?)

Now they just have more evidence to reinforce their opinion !

Looks like the job is at a standstill till weekend, everytime I think I might manage a half day off.........................BANG another disaster !

Honestly, I spend so much time at work 'fighting fires', I feel like one of the extras from 'Backdraft'.

Slow progress !

I think I have managed to sort the snapped bolt and re-thread the hole, hopefully sorted the oil return pipe fitting onto the head, cleaned and re-fitted the 'half moons' and cleaned everything ready to refit the rocker cover.

I am having to do the right hand side first and then the left when I can turn the engine around on the bench !

Right hand side done !

That 'Threebond 1215' crap ends up everywhere, I know Subaru describe it as liquid gasket but it's thinner than p*ss !

Left hand side rocker and refitting the turbo next.

One of the techs has a 4.2 Supercharged V8 on the engine hoist at the moment, I keep looking at it, looking at my engine bay, looking at it, looking at my.............you get the picture !

Bah !

I hate people with real technical skill !

Dave has dismantled the V8 and put it back together in the time it takes me to decide which socket set is prettier !

I spent seven hours today ordering 26 new cars so was not in the mood for wrestling with my engine by the time 6.15 (closing time) arrived.

Decided to refit the turbo tonight, gave up after 1 1/2 hours due to not being able to get the inlet pipe to fit properly !

It seemed okay before I removed the engine, it is one of the silicone 'ebay' jobs though.

I read his thread, sounds like bottom end failure to me !

I hope he gets things sorted with the dealer.

In the meantime, I have been wondering whether to persevere with the current inlet pipe, new 'cheapie' off ebay or very expensive Samco ?

On the other hand I could fabricate a new one myself in best 'Blue Peter' tradition !

Now.................where did I put those toilet roll tubes and yoghurt pots ?

Oh no !

Spotted a potential flaw in my masterplan !

Where will I find a grown up to help with the scissors ?

I managed to get the turbo back on today after a lot of messing.

I did manage to snap the oil feed banjo bolt on top of the turbo, anyone know what size it is ?

That's not too bad, I let someone drive mine today, in a foolish attempt to sell my turbo, and they've broken it !

Nah,

she just spat a IC hose off and it's running rough, as the ecu hasn't a clue what was going on, I may need some plugs in it, or some new valves... sizzle !

dunx

P.S. That will teach me to try and sell the bloody turbo....

You've hit the nail on the head !

Just before mine packed in again, I went to look at a new Focus ST !

The f***ing thing obviously commited automotive suicide as a 'cry for help'

I did manage to do the left hand rocker cover today.

I can do the banjo bolt with the engine back in, just need some time and a 'volunteer from the audience' to help swing it into place...............

'You sir !, the tall, short fellow with the Jaguar overalls ! join me on stage, I assure you there is no reason to be nervous !'

Eight severed fingers (and two thumbs ?) later and I'm looking at a lawsuit for loss of earnings.

It's good that you bear all this adversity on such broad shoulders, a lesser man would breakdown and cry...

Or as you said earlier, GO POSTAL !

Yeah, I echo Dunx's sentiment - can't believe your sense of humour/patience in all this. Mind you, I suppose if you didn't see the funny side, then you would indeed be gibber gibbering all over the shop...

Dunx, unfortunately it's my waistline that's broad not my shoulders !

Fuelled of course by my addiction to junk food.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............................. ....................junk food..........

Joz, the secret to not letting it all drive me insane is that I was insane to begin with.

Everyone who knows me describes me as being anywhere from 'eccentric' to 'f***ing weird' depending on how charitable they are feeling at the time.

I suppose it doesn't help when I simulate ice skating across the tiled floor in the workshop whilst humming 'The Blue Danube' (If any health and safety types are reading this, the previous statement is a figment of your imagination)

Or skipping across the workshop like Johnny in 'Airplane', 'to the tower........Rapunzel, Rapunzel !'

My wifes answer to the often asked 'how on earth do you put up with him ?'

'Easy, he spends most of his time at work or asleep !'

I have booked a full day off on Friday to try to get the engine back into the car, I can always bolt the bits on at my own pace after that.

If not, I can always shoot it with fathers service revolver and then do the honourable thing !

'There's another major problem with the Subaru !'

'What is it ?'

'It's a Japanese minicab with a powerplant made out of two lawnmower engines bolted together, but that's not important right now.................'

Whirrrr, gibber, I am a teapot............................................ .................

Hoot. They ought to make Airplane "3", so as to be able to shoehorn in that script, etc...

Airplane: 747 Jumbo
Airplane II: Space Shuttle
Airplane III: Impreza

All comedy-disaster movies.

In Farnworth, where I work, anything is readily available !

I came out from work one night last week at about 8pm, sat in the car whilst I set up my hands free.

Next news, teenager on a bike rides up to a car parked further down the road, money changes hands and packets of 'something' hastily hidden in his hoodie !

FFS !

I might not look like Don Johnson in Miami Vice but for all they knew I could have been a plain clothes copper !

What is the world coming to ?
