time attack build
Must admit in the last two years i have turned up at my first event with a car finished the night before with no testing and a standard suspension set up, with adjustable everything, jumped in it and got on with it, it is unfortunately the nature of things when doing motorsport on a limited budget.
amen to that
6hrs one way : Your monaing to the wrong person there! It took us about 12hrs one way to get to Snet. Fee drove the Navara, I drove a stripped out Impreza. Not Nice.
Bite the bullit, get on with it
Also means you'll have experience on KH for next time (may save money as you wont have have to plan a test day there).
Loads of people in Club drive the circuit for the first time on the day of the event.

If youve never even driven the car before I would go and do "your shake down/testing" at a track day and then go and compete at Brands feeling confident you know the car and the track
Just out of curiosuty, I use to race blades in "Powerbike" and I have done track days at Oulton about 20 times and a couple of race meetings as well, all about 5 years ago, now that I am old
I have an 06 Spec C running 420bhp and will soon have 18" wheels with AP 355mm brakes, Whiteline handling kit and the likes.........(standard suspension)
Never been near a track in a car, what kinda times would you be hoping for as a "novice" around Oulton at a track day?
Lee.

well i ran that nail ice driver 250 bhp around 230 flb standard everything and full weight and that saw me a 1.44 flat, the standard spec c suspension is pretty similar to jdm sti unless you got an ra or ra-r where you get the pink shocks and all the trick bits, so thats the weak point if you like, having never driven a time?? but its hard to say as everyone is different, you could be a natural or you could be ****, hard to say get it out and see
To be honest I was at Oulton watching your times because I would like a go one day, but the trackdays are full circuit so I am not sure how much a 1:44 would be on a full circuit?
Good luck fella.

Shame you don't want to make it up to scotland Matt - it is a fantastic circuit and probablyt the only chance in the year to make that trip worthwhile. For me it is 8 hours each way - and makes a cracking weekend both on and off track

love too matt but i only have my cup car to drive at the moment and it will not be quite ready for thursday. good luck
That's the thing that I understand the least!
The car has been built to be used....and for the main part at the moment, to be used in Time Attack
But yet you've spent all the money on it and now aren't using it for it's purpose
Just get on with it!

Unless you know the facts dunc ?
All this bull about time attack being diffrent than track days and this is this and all the other bull
Didn't a first time out one hit wonder cpr car beat you with a 1.32 in club challenge dunc its about the car and secondly the driver . Maybe thats your problem
How can that possibly read as jealousy ?
Just pointing out the many changes of mind that Matt has had during the build have probably caused a lot of unnecessary extra work/re-work/cost.
As for Oulton times - I really don't care what other people did apart from cheering Scott and Fee on in Club. I know the issues with my car slowed it down on the day but hey if you want to take pops at me then great - feast yourself.

My Knockhill experience in 2008 was fitting a newly built engine in the early hours of the morning before travelling up. Used the journey upto Glasgow with the family to run the engine in at actuator pressure, dropped the oil and kids off on arrival and replaced with good stuff (oil that is) then went onto complete around 5laps on the practice day as didn't get there till around 4pm. The journey back to Glasgow that evening saw me mapping in some boost and a 6k rev limit due to the new engine.
Race day and managed consistent 58 second laps from the off and a best of 58.1 in the final

This year I could've run at Knockhill but chose not to.
he car has had no testing and I have too much work invested in it for something to go wrong due to an oversight or similar, a bit like Matt's case.
Brands will be the first competitive outing for the car but this means that it will be nailed for for the event with plenty of testing being carried out before hand

Good luck Matt, I'm sure the first time you get behind the wheel it'll be worth it

Her time would have been good enough for 1st in 2009 too.

The engine should be finished by the end of the week then i can design all the bits around it
