time attack build
im baaaack, been mia for a while but its all good, spent a week living in a hotel near the clinic and had a week on the car, and what a good week.
car is 95% now engine in next week and its done, shes ready, there is no point me taking more pics until next weekend when i unveil the finished article, this is a very special motor, its just stunning, shame to wreck it on track, but thats what she was built for, it will have a bit less power now as i want to make every round so ive gone for reliability dont get me wrong iv got big power just not 600 like i origionally wanted, but 480 - 500 should be enough to do some damage and it will be done next week so it was a no brainer, im a happy mo fo

nice 1 matt, looking forward to seeing you getting some time in the seat mate, there is no substitute for that. i think 500hp with a few test days under your belt would make you quicker than 600hp and your first day out in the car at round 1. realy good news mate.

ps, i am booked on timeattack now mate

mite put a few of completed body end of next week, i want the first pics of the car to be proper not crap ones off the phone or the clinics nice 4mega pixel
its taken so long, and such a roller coaster of emotions, been hard at times to stay motivated, and to keep throwing money at something that not even driveable, but for the first time in months i slept a full night without money or car parts/progress being on my mind at all
i just want the first pics to do it justice, know what i mean
i thought it may be better to do a film of build pics followed by mapping and its first test instead of just pics, i know its only a track subaru not a buggatti and there are far more powerful and impressive builds, but its taken a lot out of everyone to pull it together so why not make a big deal out of it, ill never build another one i know that much, so the full 2.33 engine build will be ready for snetterton final, it would not have been ready and rather than miss rounds we have chosen to run round 1-4 on the spec c engine, so with everything else already done for snetterton its litterally swap the engine, remap solaris, job done which is a much more sensible as it can have a full year in the seat running good power then winter test and be perfect for 2011 and 600bhp, so ill still be knocking on the door of 500bhp and i will look into a high race fuel mix, and the focus of this first year will be chassis/suspension improvments and more weight loss and take it from there

well you know, the same bull**** you get to stress you out two weeks before round 1, this isnt done, thats not done, this hasnt arrived that hasnt arrived etc to look at its finished, then you look deeper and realise that its 50/50 whether this car will be done for round 1. so im not good to be honest, especially seeing as all the rounds are paid for and i see all you guys getting testing under your belt, and im just sat here like a ****
to put it in perspective at least another week solidly, (which wont happen)
just to get it ready for mapping
so in answer to your question, im really stressed atm

Fingers crossed it comes together for you to at least get out there in round 1 in whatever form
People think this TA lark is easy - the stress is huge and going from round to round is worse than this bit tbh...

its not great it loses you a lot of sleep i have found, the worst bit for me personally is i cant seem to switch off from it a) the amount of time and money that has gone into it b) deadlines as you say. i find everything has taken a back seat over the past year, this car has monopolised everything, and the thought of it not making the first round makes me sick to my stomach, its just a waste , so yeah just have to keep plugging away and start believing in miricles

Loads of time yet
zen hadn't even started theirs last yer by this time.
cut corners and make it run to make the starting line is the most important part. Mine will be in exactly the same state and still being built on the day tbh.

Duncan, you really wanted to get your point accross there didn't you
I agree, don't worry about it, it's last minute for everyone. Just make sure it gets there and runs at the first event. As it's only 5 rounds, you miss one and you are out of the running.

Promised deadlines are never met and it's even worse when you have to set yourself a deadline for the car to be ready.
Good luck mate
cheers all
see we can all be nice to each other in times of adversity
im not going overboard but i think there is possibly a big push starting tomorrow to get the car done, we will see

When you doing the shakedown and handling set-up.... practice on the day!!

Seriously though mate, best of luck.... at least you are actually doing something with your car and not just sitting in your armchair bashing a keyboard playing wannabe!

He'll be driving his own car too not passing the keys to his mate who organises the series, unlike some

I drove my car at every single round that the car attended last year. The car did not take a rest after my runs and the keys were given to Simon (for the last two rounds) so he could have some fun after I was done. I just warmed the oil up for him.

When Richard Bulmer's car had problems for one event and he told me the bad news prior, I said he could give mine a thrashing after I had finished with it so he would not miss out on the chance to gain himself points.

Car did the equivalent of 7 rounds last year out of a Championship of 5... and it missed the 1st round. lol
Utaka,
I have everything crossed for you mate!
