He said that Vredestein, apparently a Scandanavian company, have recently gone bust and that they're generally a winter tyre manufacturer and seemed a bit puzzled in my interest in the Sessentas.
I think because they are a colder climate manufacturer, that is the reason why their tyres get such good ratings in the UK.

In my opinion, most performance tyres in the UK aren't suited to our cold and damp climate. The UK is not Spain, Italy, south of France, or wamer parts of Germany etc. Consequentally, tyres designed for these climates under perform in the UK IMO (especially PZeros Rossos in my experience ), so a tyre designed to work in a cooler and damper climate makes so much more sense as to why they get such good reviews, because thats the kind of weather we get in the UK.

Pity they've gone bump - been taken obver by "Apollo" apparently.

Exactly my thinking mate - which is why I opted for a pair of the Vredesteins in the end.
Although I was unable to get them via any of the conventional suppliers in the area, I went online and got them from Tyremen in Hull; £208 delivered. Not the cheapest but they've had such good reviews for their performance in both wet and dry conditions that I thought they looked like a wise choice for the UK.
Pic below; they look a bit like the Parada Spec 2's but apparently with better wet weather grip.

Several fitters I spoke to said I'd still see fairly quick wear on the Goodyear Asymmetrics too if I was driving in a "spirited" fashion, and I was never that impressed by their wet gripping ability and their tendency to aquaplane under heavy braking in the wet, so I thought what the hell I'll give these a go.

If they're dire I may try Hankooks next time round but sadly this time I couldn't get hold of any believe it or not. Same story for BF Goodrich gForce Profiler 2's; great write ups but none about and I was being given waiting times of over 2 weeks to get some, and annoyingly I need them for the weekend.

I'll post more at the end of the week, after I've been to Japfest and Manchester and back on em....

Yeah my neighbour got that wrong mate - you're right, they're Dutch, although apparently the tyres are made in Russia!
All I've heard is they're very good tyres.

As for going bust, sounds like the rumours are true....

Apparently they're being taken over by Apollo Tyres.

Thanks mate - I did consider these but the majority say that whilst they're good they don't offer much grip towards the end of their life and the main complaint is that they wear too quickly; I wouldn't mind if they were £75 a corner but when I'm buying a tyre for everyday road use I want it to last a little bit longer - I'm hoping I've made the right choice in that regard.

Not knocking them btw - the T1R's are supposed to be bloody good tyres and streets ahead of the T1S's which apparently suffered from very weak sidewalls.

The Vredesteins arrived yesterday at midday and I had them fitted this morning to the fronts.

Despite many reviews saying they're best after running in for about 50 miles, they are already noticeably far grippier than the Eagle F1's they've replaced, the car feels far more stable cornering at speed and there's not as much sliding about on the road like I used to find with the Goodyears.
Very impressed so far.

BUT I CANT FIND THEM !! I have searched the net high and low! Im in Glasgow. Can anybody help...with the tyres that is not the fact that I live in Glasgow!!

By the way, I used to run Prada spec 2's on my Clio 172 (205BHP) and they were incredible in the dry but needed to be carefull i the wet if you were pushing. I had great wear from them (20,000) on fronts with 2 track days and 25 from rears. They were fab. As teh Scooby is AWD though and I want great wet weather performance I would not have them.
Not sure where in Glasgow you are but i always use Jim Dickson in Cumbernauld as do a lot of others around the area he is always very keen on price and service is excellent

1000+ miles after having these fitted and I can say they absolutely annihilate the F1's in terms of grip in dry and wet.
Fuel consumption also seems to have marginally improved by around 5-10 miles per tank - don't think I've changed my driving style tbh. What can I say guys - forget Eagle F1's - these are in a different league, and for the similarity in price it's a no brainer.

Hi Bugeye,

I too have the Sessanta's after running P-Zeros.

I had 4 put on my car and they are by far the best tyre I have ever had. If you are impressed with them in the dry, wait till it rains, they are even more impressive.

I would recommend them to everyone

I've just recently bought the car and the front tyres are pretty shot on the inner edges anddown to the wear limiters.

The car tramlines like hell at the moment but I'm putting this down to the tyres being on their last legs...would this be right??

I've been offered a set of the old Goodyear GSD3's left over from my regular supplier for a cracking price of £440 fitted and balanced inc VAT.

I'm very tempted to go for this deal as it's obviously a great price but don't know if I should just bite the bullet cost wise and go for a set of the Eagle Aysim's that seem to be so well rated at the mo.

My driving style is pretty conservative with the odd A/B road blast once in a while, would I be ok on the wear side as It seems this is an issue with both the old GSD3's and Aysim's?

The car's running the standard P1 suspension setup without any mods.

Would like to hear from anyone with a classic preferably a P1 onthe same wheels and what tyres they found to be the best.

Sorry for the long hijack, but really could do with the advice as need to change the tyres desperatly due to wear.

thanks all.
Just a bit of feedback for all, I went for the Falken FK452's in the end which was purely dictated by my budget at the mo. Have just finished scrubbing them in for around 300miles of easy driving and gave them a pasting on Sunday at the MSOC meet.

Have to say they seem good so far and held up well on the run, slightly weaker sidewalls than my previous Bridgestone SO3's but overall grip was good in the dry.

£370 all in fitted for a set of 225/35/18's put's a big smile on my face when I could have spent 550-600 on some Eagle Aysims.

Not bad mate, but tbh - don't know where you've got these figures of 550-600 for Asyms - I can get them fitted for less than £480 locally!

Have to say these Vredesteins really are still keeping me smiling - they wop the ***** of the Eagle F1 GSD3's - I'd never go back again. How do the Falkens compare to the Bridgestones? I hear the latter are very noisy.
