[QUOTE=silver demon;9222406]Sprayed on a STI logo today

Looking good, did mine last year and very happy with the results, took me a few attempts to get the template the right size!

Not interested in
a: too much noise
b: having to re-fit exhaust every MOT time

I thought the "cat back" systems replaced the centre cat? am I wrong?

I've just spoken to Iain and he's sorted me out a 2nd hand full 330s system with de-catted centre section

The new Milltek design is being jigged today (on his way to Milltek now)

Scooby L, I think the 330s decatted centre section is just a resonator pipe so Ians one is just a straight through section so should be totally fine come MOT time.

As for Zerosports pipe, £50 when Revolution had them on offer, think they are over £100 now though.

Cheers Arron

Yes I just wanted to drop the middle cat, plus increase flow slightly so this fit's the bill nicely for Duncan to give me mid 300's

Is yours the 76mm or 90mm kit?

I've just got the PPP 330s backbox and a std center pipe (they are the same on STI and 330s) but have chopped the resonated section out of the center pipe and replaced with a straight pipe to release a little more noise.

Actually now thinking of changing and swapping for a Magnaflow, cannot make my mind up though if I want that much extra noise!!

I'm confused now Arron

Centre pipes on the 330s and STI are the same.. so where is the resonator pipe located? I thought my STI had it's 2nd cat in the centre section...

No, just the one CAT as far as I am aware, centre pipe is the same on both and contains a resonator only, reason I know is I've got a full PPP exhaust on mine, went to replace my centre pipe with the ppp one and it is exactly the same as I took off.

So I had a pipe fabricated and chopped it out as below:

Can go back to std if I want as I kept the original.

Removing the resonator makes no difference to cabin noise, just a little louder exhaust note, may be sellling though so may actually put standard back on for now.

I was always under the impression that the PPP always just involved changing the backbox on the latest models with maybe a sports cat thrown in as well in the downpipe.

I've been told 350 is about the max you can get with the PPP box as its fairly restictive, let me know how you get on as looking to have mine mapped soon.

Do you mind me asking how much for the map and by whome, what sort of numbers they are hoping for and if you have any other supporting mods, pm me if you want, thanks

Duncan from Dynamix is doing it. Both he (and JDM) quoted 340-350 with the standard exhaust... Hopefully 350 will be the finished level with a bit of PPP burble.

I don't think it's totally the backbox, Duncan said the front cat is the limiting factor... if you're chasing 380 then de-cat or fast flow cat is the way.

Duncan's prices depends on his ability to fill the day but he's quoted me £350 all done. (all 3 maps i, s & s#)

Interesting stuff, will have to pop him a pm, as previous quotes were a lot more than that, may have to scrap the new exhaust and map instead!!
Cheers

Good figures - who mapped it if you don't mind me asking?

I'm tempted but don't really want to change from PPP exhaust.

I've lived with Magnaflow for a week now - have cruised up and down the motorway, hooned on backs roads and it's really the perfect exhaust for me.

It's gutsy but nowhere near as loud as some of you think it might be - the cabin is well insulated anyway so not too much noise comes into the cabin. I still have standard up-pipe and downpipe which also lessens the noise - but it sounds like a 'proper' Subaru now.

Stop dithering and get it bought

Did you get to the bottom of the overboost issue?

Default Valet parking

It's that time of year when, in order to keep on modding I have to take the family way for 2 weeks in the sun (and blow the cost of a good BBK in the process).

Now we normally use Purple Parking Valet service as it means less hassle and no fuss from the kids as we don't have to lug stuff on and off shuttle buses etc. All good.

Issue is I'm not too keen on letting an unknown chap (or chappess) loose in my 330bhp hatch. Will they rag it, will they spend the two weeks joy riding? Will they fiddle with the diff settings, knock the STi drive into S# and stuff her into a tree? Will they not simmer the turbo? Will they kerb my alloys?

The mrs tells me not to worry - being as the valet parkers want to keep their jobs etc and will not thrash my car, but I'm still a little worried.

Thinking I'll set the tracker to alert me if the car goes over 70 mph, reset the trip before I leave it and then remote immobilise it whilst I'm out of the country.

Would you leave your STi with a valet parking firm or am I being stupid? A taxi to the airport and back would have been more than twice the price, but would it have bought peace of mind?

cheers

I have before, and all has been well.

2003 STI
Porsche Cayman
2008 STI

All with Purple Parking

Take a note of the mileage (take pic too) when you leave it.

384bhp from PPP exhaust is encouraging... I set my sights on 350/350, but with the PPP fast flow cat and backbox fitted, plus a cosworth panel filter, we're moving on up..

Winmoz,

If you set the metasat to 70mph whats going to be worse, paying for a taxi at double the price or knowing that some nice chap has boosted your car to over 70mph parking your pride & joy.

If the car can be left at home securely m8 i would take the taxi or maybe a friend/family dropping you off at the airport [in their car]

To be honest my heart rate goes into high treble figures when i let my kids into the hatch nevermind a stranger driving it

hope that don't scare you too much

Enjoy your holiday

i have a Cosworth panel filter for sale if anyone is interested.

bought it to test it against the K&N so only done 500 miles with it in.

i found a better low down response with the K&N so keeping that.
