Yes, rang them, answer was "that's impossible sir, that couldn't happen, he's our most experienced mechanic"...

It didn't even get a once over with a sponge. Well, I won't be using them again! Hopefully the subaru warranty will sort the struts and bearing and I may call IM to see what they'll do regarding the shocking practice at this dealer. I think I'll just use Slowboy from now on

The thing is, This would set my mind in doubt as to whether they carried out the required geometry setting for those springs too ?? or was it a case of slap the springs on kick its **** and send it back. if thats the case I'd be furious

I asked about the geometry and if they had a hunter or similar and it was " no, we align the fronts to the rear, it's really accurate" WTF?! Once I get the struts done, i'll take it to get a 4 wheel laser alignment done. What settings would t be best to go for? The prodrive ones or the newer pro-r ones?

Standard R26 breaks are no better tbh at all, most have highcarbon bembo plain disks, braided lines and RC5 pads, makes a half decent set up, i upped to PF330mm floating disks, then they where good, but standard id not say they where any better, marginal, prob the weight as said

Just wanting to check ahead of time gang (I hope I'm ahead of time lol...)

But when would the timing belt be due for a change on the '08 onwards STI hatchbacks? 60k? I've heard tell it's not due until 100k but that seems pushing it to me. I'm currently at 52k and it's taken me a year to do the last 1500 miles, lmao.

The workshop manual states 66K miles/105Kms or 7years for cambelt change (Europe Area), although I recall the UK owners service book (in the car) says 60K.

interesting as my book says replace @ 66k miles at additional cost.

doesn't give a time/month max. Just on mileage!!!

the MY11 cars are different then.

The MY11 cars are no different, service book is still for 08 onwards just an updated version. (part no:SACC7017)

Looks as if they added the 84 months part to avoid confusion (as reflected in these posts) and tie in with what's in the Workshop manual service schedule for Europe.

Guys

Do you check your engine oil dipstick when cold, or when up to temperature?
What do you dipstick level do you see when checking from cold?

Painted the exhaust trim with some Hammerite high temperature matt "black" that actually turned out to be more like grey... I put them back on for now, not sure if it's worth trying to find something a bit more black?

Manual states 10 minutes after turning off a warm engine IIRC.

There's 2 sets of marks on the dipstick, cold low & high level, hot low & high levels.

Had this happen to me, One minute there fine then the next was an almighty bang on hard cornering, mine had just loosened like that, I managed to tighten it up and it's never been an issue since..
