Common complaint about the hatch. As Abx said speak with Litchfield or Powerstation as they both offer a solution. You have some of it in a way already so it maybe cheaper than you think. I noticed a big improvement driving a car with the factory 17's and then one on 19" gt2's. Rob was offering them on a deal last week might be worth dropping him a message

Still doing the deal on the Prodrive GT2's cheaper than most dealers

Thank god for that! For a while I thought I was the only Hatch owner having these probs. Can't really understand why Subaru didn't sort it. Not only do we have to put there choc piston probes right we also have to sort there in house handling issues out. Below is from Powerstation.

Subaru Impreza MY08-/Type 20 Suspension Upgrades
After our extensive RD program during the development of the MY08- Type 20 Impreza we are now able to offer our unique MY08- handling kits.
With these kits we have recognised and addressed the handling issues experienced by all spirited MY08- owners. Principally, 'over light' steering, 'kickback' through the steering during high G cornering, lack of 'feed back' and 'feel' through the steering wheel, inability to hold a line through a corner and excessive roll and weight transfer during initial 'turn in' All these negatives are virtually eliminated with our handling kits.

As said mate its a common issue with the hatch which was worked on with the my11 onward cars and speaking from experience the changes they made were a big improvement.

Litchfield imports also offer a solution so speak to both explain what you have already and they will tailor to suit your needs.

Or the other option is to go straight to coil over suspension but considering you have the springs already it may be worth the cheapest option of the fitting the stage one kit to ya what you have already as in theory that will see you in effect at stage two. I would imagine that would suffice for a majority of people. I have the ast's on my saloon and although the handling is night and day over my old 330s I do miss the softer ride on a day to day slog to work and back........ Unless the roads are quiet then all is forgiven lol

It's not making huge power at 320bhp as its till running std cat,air box & so on. My concern is the way it feels at speed. I don't like it,VAGUE is the word & scary is another. I've made a few mods to try & improve the feel Tein springs have helped. The rack has been poly bushed & now I'm playing about with tyre pressures. Any help would be fantastic.
Tyre pressure 34f 32r will help.
White line front and rear arbs
Inserts for the floating rear
All the powerstation mods are great and really improve feel.
Poly bushes must be 'firm' lol

ECUtek software locks the ECU to ECUtek dealers/mappers. It would have to be removed to use open source for reading or changing settings.

Speak with Duncan aka Dunamix, he's done plenty of hatches now and with exhaust and panel filter will get you a safe 345/350 for a fraction of the price of ecutek, will also throw in some pops and bangs if desired along with reprogramming the idrive as desired.

No it cannot be used after an ecutek map. ecu is locked. the only way is to remove the ecu and force erase it

Hey Sparks

Had my car cared for suspension wise by Powerstation (as they did all the development work on the Type 20 masterpiece).

They have repeatedly told me that as the droplinks are metal on the hatch, they dont recommend replacing them UNLESS you are wanting a track monster with plenty of NVH and a bag of tooth fillings.

CDF dont do them for the hatch, Perrin, Kartboy, and Whiteline do tho'.

From what i understand the adjustable Whiteline are best as they ideally want to be as vertical as poss when fitted to function best.

You might be best replacing with oem drops, and spend the extra on the powersteering mod with new rack bushes - from Powerstation.

TBH I'm sure many peeps will sell the droplinks as a must have but they deffo are not... I had a respected local tuner (on here) give me some v poor advice re handling. My advice is go to the experts in their own field.

Good luck mate...

A

PS you have fitted the plastic \ poly inserts in the rear floating subframe (rear subframe bush kit) ? Think Whiteline parts for such are around £35 - and that is a must have hatch mod.

PPS If Powerstation is too far away - Chevron Motorsport know their stuff re handling mods.

hi apostle

already had whiteline steering rack bushes done & subframe inserts r done along with ARBs & coilovers , got a bit play on oem droplinks & getting a slight knocking when turning ie when loading left side right side knocking & vicer versa ,

got rob to check it out when in from 70k service & pre MOT check & wear on oem droplinks causeing this.

E,mailed CDF & they say theres will fit hatch but thinking as nearly ever thing else is whiteline I mite just go with there adjustable one , thorth I would just ask Question to see if any body had replaced theres

Should be ok, are you sure the male to female aerial connector is fully pushed together, they can sometimes go in 5mm or so more than you think they can.

Have you connected the blue or blue white wires for the powered aerial as this is used to power the amplifier.
