Nice to meet some new (and old lol) faces today!

I asked Sammy if he could take me for a spin in his Litchfield JDM Hatch.... he said "No, but I will give you the keys and you can take it yourself".

That was a bad mistake, as I took it down the back lanes and cained the **** off it!

But.... it has to be said I was very very impressed. OK.... it has not got the power that I am acustomed to, but as a complete package for the road, it was great to drive and such an improvement over the saloon in the road handling department. Obviously Sammy's car is far from standard but it was sooo much better than the UK Hatch STi I had driven. I certainly prefer the higher reving JDM 2ltr!

Cheers mate..... but you have only got me thinking again! roflol Do I, don't I.

BTW... I fully appreciate what you mean about the power difference mate, between your hatch and your previous MKII Type25. Driving back in the Spec C, I forgot the crap interior and older car outlook, as soon as I planted the throttle. Jesus the 'C' is quick! Saying that though.... 360bhp is more than enough for the road in my view, as I had some fun in yours with the diff wide open and lift off oversteer on the test drive. Grip was amazing and the engine was so much buzzier than the EVO X 360 I took out the other week. Look forward to hearing how it goes once Litchfields have fitted their latest twinscroll turbo.

Iain - I didn't blank you before I left, I just popped back in the office to say "bye" and I noticed you were releaving someone of cash! I'm not one to get in the way of that!

Good to meet everyone, athough we do need to recruit a few more diesels into the fold.

The car is now worderfull again and I didn't see a single Range Rover on the way home *phew*


Although they had closed the a1 for resurfacing, which I don't mind...............



If they were actually resurfacing it!!! Not a soul in sight, just cones and a diversion through a village and down what I can only describe as a tarmac'd farm track...

What a great day! Nice to meet you all - and thanks a lot to Iain and his team for the hospitality and first class service & advice

I'm very pleased with the handling kit - the car is a totally different beast, completely planted at all times

Even though it took 2 1/2 hours to get home I still detoured around my favourite b roads - what can I say other than thanks everyone for the advice on this thread, the bushes, steering mod, alk & rear arb is the best thing I could have done to the car for sure

That white JDM STI with the perrin front mount and sexy wheels is just awesome, when the new turbo goes in and it makes over 400bhp that is going to be some car!

Ian if you look at this thread, a huge thank you to you & Jenny for your hospitality and great service, really great service. Thanks also to Matt (Ian's technician) for his attention to detail and sense of humor!

The JDM mirrors look the business and will be a popular mod I am sure and the AST's have transformed the car, I am a very happy man

A 2.7 diesel WRX/STI with around 280bhp and 400lb ft torque and 35+mpg? Now that could be interesting as an everyday motor...I never thought I would say Impreza and diesel in the same sentance before, but having driven a mates 335d I can honestly say that the devils fuel can be fun...I would probably still end up keeping a petrol STI as well for fun though

 

Your not the only 1 and you have an email inbound over the next couple of days. I'm thinking it could make a really nice GT car.

Oh and they are begging for a straight through! From the DPF back, the exhaust is just pipe work

I think you are right regarding the colours..... personally, I think the Blue and White ones are the best colour now, especially since Blue is not the norm anymore. Strangely enough I went to TRAX today (that is strange in itself lol) and I only saw TWO hatches. Either that is because no one wants them, or more importantly because the TRAX customer can not afford them!

Hat's off though.... I was VERY impressed with what you have done with Sammy's JDM STi. In a number of ways, it is so much better than any other Subaru I have driven. Just needs some more power, which I hope your new turbo's deliver...... which I am sure they will. Certainly no complaints on the handling front, as it had so much grip!

Unfortunately, if I had never met Iain all those years ago and still stuck with Cossies.... any decision to get a Hatch would of been soooooooo much easier. I blame Litchfield Imports for originally supplying me with an awesome Subaru and then working with me to make it even better!

On no.... what am I saying.

 

Had a play day today

removed the bumper and fitted the following:

STI lower rubber lip
PIAA horns
Painted front grille
LED side light bulbs


I took a load of reference photo's just in case any one wanted views when the bumper is off.

One this I must say that I found made bumper removal, remove the side bumoer vents, this gives you access to all the cliups that you need to remove, from inside. This allows you to push them from the inside, you can also change the indicator and side light and fog light bulbs with these removed.

The washer jet covers come off with a little wiggle up and down - 20 clips and off comes the bumper!!! that easy.

Does any1 know what this bottle is used for? Its empty and I cant see anyway of it being filled by a liquid. Its directly below the air box in the engine bay.






























Friday night I removed the exhaust bumper trims and painted them matte black, about 5 coats of halford spray.

Re-fitted them this morning:

Those with Prodrive wheels and springs, may I ask whether they felt that the ride was significantly harsher with them fitted? I have just bought a 2009 STI with PPP, 18's and Prodrive springs, and just wondered how much hasher the ride is over standard...?

Thanks Mick, I must admit I think that I need to get used to the ride! The rear boot retractable cover rattles away! Coming from a Mountune Focus ST is does feel quite harsh, but it sounds like its just the way that the STi is.

I went for WR Blue, photos to follow.

 

Not had that problem so may just be a quick adjustment that is needed. Looking forward to seeing the pics

 

It is an air reservoir on the bottom of the airbox (increases the volume of the airbox etc.)

Thanks, I had an idea it was for the induction.

Love the plate, car looks evil in black, change the front grille to the STI replacement one, like I have so you loose that grey bar in the middle

what did you swap all that for?

did you need a re-map?

p.s. did you get too excited whilst fitting the new induction by any chance
