My drivers side xenon has stopped working, also when the car is cold the passenger one seems to flicker when I move off. I thought these lights were supposed to last 10yrs? My car is exactly 4 years old (this week!)

I'm guessing this is another uncommon fault? Is the ballast a part of the headlight unit? Is it possible to remove the xenon bulb and try it on the other side? I'm thinking this will point to either a faulty bulb or ballast? Is there an easy way to test which bits bust?

just swap it over and see.

have a look on ebay for the bulbs and buy two.. then swap both at the same time, just to make sure you have the same colour bulb light from both.

Just swapped the xenon bulbs over... Now both sides work again

I'm guessing it was a loose connection or something but all the plugs looked tightly closed, confused. Aww well at least it works... For now

turn on the ignition.
Press the trip switch until rpm indicator is displayed in the mileage box
press and hold while this is displayed and it will get the shift light into setup mode, to Change the digit release the button and press and hold until the desired digit is acheived once set press the trip switch quickly and the digit will scroll along. until it says something like on or off do the same as earlier press and hold until it changes then release, quickly press again and it will ask if you want it to beep, press and hold and it will change to beep on, once done quickly press the trip switch it will then beep at you to confirm its set

It lasted a day, now stopped working again. I think the bulb is ok as I e swapped them around and the fault has re-occurred on the original headlight. Is there any way I can diagnose the issue as either a faulty ignitor or ballast? Are these two separate parts?

Thanks once again for the info, I've seen aftermarket hid kits on the web from £70 so was thinking this could be an alternative? I'll need to hack the original wiring to bypass the original ballast and power the aftermarket one, though if it saves £500 then I'm willing to give it a shot!

Be careful adding in aftermarket HID kits to the Canbus electrics on the car. they can be very tempremental if it's not factory equiptment. and since they are linked into the self leveling unit it will have to work correctly

Good point, is the ballast built into the headlamp or hidden underneath it somewhere? don't suppose you have a diagram you could share?

Thanks

Thanks guys, didn't read Robs message properly

Did some digging today, apparently the ballast is quite generic and fits a load of different jap cars, so I'm going to read the manufacturer part numbers from the ballast and see if I can get one from a breaker. Just waiting for the right weather to get the bumper off

Thanks

Thanks

Its held in with 4 screws Under the headlamp assy. you need to remove the bumper to get the lamp out.

remove 4 clips along the top of the grille just infront of the slam panel.
Remove top pin clip on inside of wheel arch on the corner, look under the bumper and there is about 6 clips remove those.
then gently lift up the washer jet cover and unclip the covers then start at the wheel arch and gently pull the bumper outwards and it will come off

Looks spot on, But can I ask why the Short Ram Intake ? I know with a little work it can be forced into the wing behind the fog lamp. Surly thats gonna draw hot air ?

Its a bit of a fabrication affair to get something into the wing with a front mount on, I know because I had to alter my AEM Intake to get it down there.
