Does anyone have any thoughts on Eibach springs.
Do they help reduce the body roll on the STI?

I'm taking about the Eibach springs on the Pro-R site.

This morning's job - do side vent mod !
Remove vent (losen sill first) and rubber blanking strip.

Cut holes, coat liberally with Finnigans (dont worry about the odd run - it'll be hidden by the vent)

Replace vents & sills, have a few beers, BBQ, chill out.

Now going out to check out air feed through o/s fog light to CAI.
busy busy busy ....

let more hot engine air out of the side "extractor" vent.

Long read but seems like a good idea.

Just cut the mark 1 vent to CAI.
A guy on the US site said he used the whole fog light area to vent his CAI and on a track day it pushed the inner arch onto the tyre and melted part of it ! So I'll try a small vent first !

Tomorrows job is to prime then paint the area visible behind the vent black, and also the fronts of the fog covers (idea pinched from Ethanrob !!). Run out of primer or I'd have done it this evening.

Rob,
I notice you've cut out the vertical stiffener in the centre of the lower rad intake (where your FMIC is). Did thus affect the stiffness/rigidity of that black "trim" ?

No It hasnt effected it at all to be honest Stan, But the front mount sits about 24 mm from the front of the black piece so the black piece is so short its retained its stiffness so thats maybe why. saved myself a few grams in weight too haha

lol !
I'm all for a bit of weight saving - except if it involves eating or drinking less !

So you cut the rear of the left and right vertical sides of the front bit, leaving like a thinner "U" section still in place. Did I get that right ?? !!

I'll look at that tomorrow. Does that centre part pull off like the left and right fog light surrounds ?
I need to cut some of the horizontal left and right sides at the top of the rear part of the centre piece to allow air to get up to the bit of the FMIC hidden behind the bumper.

I cut the vertical sides left and right I cut along the top and along the bottom thus removing the middle support. I cut more out of the top so when the air hits the front mount it can flow up and through the rest of the intercooler in theory. I'm gonna do the rear engine vent and do a mod on the front fog cover to get more air to the air filter

Thanks.
Exactly what I'm doing/done - but I was just concerned about weakening the centre by removing the vertical support. As you have done it and seems OK, I'll get on that today !

Cool Look up boys...

Sorted.

Just ordered and paid for a new CobraSport exhaust on the group buys special.

Full 3" system with sports cat, resonated centre, AND a 'bigger than advertised' T-juction backbox (to keep it respectable) with slash cut tips (to be picked once there).

They will wrap the downpipe and fit for another £50 + materials = BARGAIN.

Pete at CobraSport wants to ensure I'm OK with tip size and exact positioning so I'll be happy, happy, happy.

Then back down to Enginetuner for a map tweak and maybe Racerom too...

COME ON GUYS GET YOUR MONEY OUT - ITS A SERIOUS DEAL GOING DOWN.

PS. I will have for sale v shortly a H+S wrapped de-cat downpipe, PPP 2nd cat delete, standard mid pipe, and PPP backbox. Offers please

Hey there James

Might just do that....

I think only the 8% as you tried at first. (seeing as its gonna be some time before I can afford the SC46... recession, recession, boo hiss.)

I'm interested in how much of a difference the full exhaust will make ?

And hoping to have a Grimmspeed boost controller to fit at same time, with a PTP turbo blanket, and some shiny DEI gold tape for the intercooler.

After your 20% methanol mix not doing much more than the 8% - did you switch back to the 8 ? And how you finding buying the stuff - did you invest in a big drum or what ?

you'll be having a trip to see Pete at Sheffield then?
take your wife and you can hae a walkdown to Meadow Hall for ome shopping while they sort your car out

Pete did my zorst on the Smart Roadster a good few years ago now, very pleased with the results tell him I said Hi

while you look at the slash cut.. also look at the normal round end pipes.. IMO look better than slash cut when you look from behind and there is less chance you'll think they look not lined up

Here is mine bud, legacy unit afaik and I got it from eBay, love it for the money with built in nav. Best thing is it fits properly without the need for a jdm panel, steering wheel controls work too.

Default Immy's R205 and my STI

Guys,

Just met up with Immy (juggers) to demo the SC46 (even though the car is still on a running in map!). He seemed impressed but to be honest I was just as impressed by his mint R205. Nice car mate, I'll give you a shout when I've had the full remap :-)

Here are some pics (not very good ones but...)

Default Rust!

Anybody else got issues with rust on their car?

Thanks to a nod from Rob, I've found what appears to be rust developing in the seams on the roof, just visible with the tailgate lifted. I know Rob's car has the same so it would be worth your while to check your cars.

I will be going over my whole car with a fine tooth comb this weekend looking for other problem areas, paying particular attention to the seams.

I suspect I'm soon going to be testing the 12 year anti corrosion warranty!

Cheers,

Neil

**** - goodluck!

I was fobbed off on my old car because of a bit of rust on the bootlid seam
Basically it was pointed out that I had to have a annual bodywork at my expense or some nonsense along those lines.
