Hi Mick, still loving the Megane, engine loosened up quite a bit now. Still in awe of its handling. Useless from a standing start in wet if you apply too much throttle, but once on the move no problem.
Do miss the STi sometimes, especially in the snow we had, but overall really happy with the RS250 and wouldnt go back. The Megane caters for my driving style better me thinks. Hopefully will be taking it on track this year see how it goes.

Happy new year guys.

I need some new tyres. Not sure what to put on.

I am going to be trading it in an the next 8 weeks (test drives of potential replacements on Thursday, weather permitting) but I can't really run it much longer without new tyres. They are all just above the legal limit and are feeling decidedly slippery on the cold wet roads.

I was thinking Pirellis P Zero Rosso or Good year F1 asymmetric. I have 18" GT1 wheels.

Any suggestions?

dont put on any nexus 9000's thats what was on the car wen i got it, and thier s###. road noise is shocking, handling deffinatly suffers, and were diabolicale in the snow. but i cant justify changing them with a good 4mm thread on avg all round. with road tax due next month :s

hearing good things about the pilot sports 3 from few guys on base, and i was very pleased with the conti's sport compacts 3 on the S3, very handy tires.

Was told its had no engine problems! and it had come from up north.

Like the car apart from the stickers... white alloys and they way the rear spoiler had self tapping screws holding it on!

We'll keep looking for a white car else where

If your trading it I'd just find the cheapest brand name tyre. Kwik-fit / National etc sometimes do deals on one particular tyre. For the sake of 8 weeks I'd go down this road; Black, round, and a name I've heard of please.

I like your thinking.
Black round and a brand name sounds good.
Cheapest I have found is £150 per corner for the Goodyear F1 asymmetric or £152 for the pirelli.
Will try for cheaper tomorrow.
Cheers.

I looked at this before purchasing mine, was told the car can be returned to std for buyer as its all vinyl and wheels swapped with std set.

Unfortunately at the time was more than I wanted to pay, grey was my first choice!

Grab yourself some of these Falkens, at £86 you cannot go wrong, cannot remember if ours are 235 or 245 so you may pay a little more but still a bargain.

I like the Michelins, but expensive if you are selling.
Trouble is, by the time the tyre is "worn in" I've got used to it and forget how it compared to previous make of tyre
I used to like Toyos on the Classic, but believe they are not so good on the Hatch.

I found a really good independant site which compared grip in wet/dry, road noise, wear, etc etc for all makes, but can't find it now - but worth doing a search !

Hi,

Just keeping everyone updated on the power results from Cobra Sport exhausts, We have been testing the latest Subaru STI Exhaust system at Scooby Clinics calibrated rolling road machine.

The car only made 286 BHP on the first run with its standard exhaust (It should have made the 300 BHP figure) so we realised we were working with an under powered car in the first place.

It made 6 BHP gain from standard O/E exhaust to 3" bore cat back system, and 4 BHP gain from the 2.5" cat-back system ( Yes a 2 BHP difference between a 2.5" + 3" bore on a standard car ! )

Cannot wait to put the de-cats on

A couple of links to hear the exhaust in action -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWksZg2gHBs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJmGf2wDJHQ

We are currently offering a Group buy on the 3" cat back system @ £450 Inc Delivery (Mainland UK only) Normal RRP is £530 Delivered. and you get to choose any of our tailpipe designs.
( See www.cobrasport.com for all tailpipe options )

(Please see Group Buys Section or contact me on Pete@exhaustsuk.com)

Thanks

Pete
