There are people on here who won't like the section (although it's not all about ****), as much as those who don't like a load of swearing and fighting won't bother with fight club, or those who think muppets is just silly and won't bother with that. I know there are differences in the things I mention, but it does come down to taste, and to me, if it's not to someones taste, stay away.

I don't see the need to explain my moral standing on this, but what I will say, is I respect both the right for people to have somewhere more adult to do whatever they wish (obviously within reason) as I respect the right of people not to bother. Nobody is being forced either way.
Just out of interest, why wasn't the 18+ section a hidden forum which was password protected for anyone interested in it, rather than just one for paying members, many of who don't want it, that way paying/non paying members could view/not view it? Why was it just allowed for paying members? I can wait for an answer as I'm sure you'll need to go back to the mods scheming board for the answer! Or better still ignore it if you don't have an answer, in true sn mod fashion!

Don't have a pop at me here . Truthfully I don't know, I'd imagine it was a combination of what was easiest to implement, plus what was available to best ensure safety of who can get access to the section. Others have better tried to explain why things were done as they were, as they are far more eloquent and possibly computer literate than me.

Tbh, I don't know how much of a part it played, but I still believe part of the reason for it being for paying members was to give something back to those who'd already parted with their cash. I for one, thought that was good thing. More has been opened to non paying members over the past, why shouldn't something be given back to those who do pay?

That comment kind of made me feel that way. But I am a sensitive soul.

I am best trying to answer stuff right now, as I can. I can't answer everything, as I'm probably the least able to explain myself well out of all the mods, but I'm trying my best.

Fair doos, I just see names in big blue letters as the same person these days as your all rhymed and versed to sing from the same hymn sheet in your mods place when the **** hits the fan! Mods here now don't moderate, you all see yourselves as higher beings than us numptys, I joined this forum as my last forum went exactly the same way as this. I suppose us non paying users won't be missed though as it's all about £££££££££££ these days!

I have no interest in hardcore ****, neither do I have any interest in trying to be one of the "sadlads". It's pathetic and smacks of desperation.

It needs to be wimmins/men only sections. Not grouped together.

I am logging out again, and won't be back until it settles down.

Well I certainly don't think that is the case. I don't think a mod thinks as themselves as above a member. We have a role to play on here, doing so for nothing but to try and help make the site a good place. Obviously there will decisions made that won't suit all, and we can be wrong, but we are accountable, and I do believe we all have the good of the site as a whole in our hearts.

Remember, we are all members too, and want to enjoy the site as much as anyone else. It can be bloody hard work trying to do the right thing. And in my opinion, paying or not, members are important. This is supposed to be a friendly site, and it's certainly not all about the money imo.

It certainly is about money, in policy i read about DCI wishing to have his orange club membership removed, he asked and the reply from you guys was 'Done' nothing about please reconsider your decision etc, it was a case of 'whatever, we have your money now **** off' Nice to see you lot caring about a long standing contributing member, it's a case of now if you don't pay your not welcome, the snubbing of non paying members to the adult forum proves this, SN is a business desperate for dosh and if your not paying then **** off, is the message i get.

How very observant of you. Oh, and I could not give a monkeys chuff what you think.
I am entitled to my opinion. The adult section should be wimmins/mens only. Not lumped together. I have my sad moments, like all, but have no desire to letch over blokes infront of you lot. You letch in your section and let us letch in ours.

Please take the time to read my comments correctly. Thank you

It's already been established that there is members-only material in fight club. Is there really a need for a new sub-section to replicate it that, so far, alienates the non-paying members? We've already seen people have stated that they are going to stop using SN because of the new section, so surely the answer is to scrap the new section and just lump it in with Fight Club where the existing paid for members already have access. At least that way it doesn't cause the controversy.... or...

... When I was running a golf forum, which I made money from by selling golfing holidays - and wanted investment, I used to start threads which would cause controversy just to drive up the amount of hits the site recieved

It seems pointless spending money with the aim of trying to improve the site if those improvements just result in users stop visiting.

I think the answer is simple - if it's risqué, chuck it in Fight Club, those who did not have access to it are not missing out, plus if anyone does decide to pay for membership, then it's not just because there is a 18+ section.

As I've already said before, I'm not a paying member, nor will I ever be, but I hope that the decisions made in regards to this site are only to improve it rather than to raise revenue. I'm not sure if the site will continue to be sucessful due to it being based on a brand which is now struggling. I remember when Subaru was famous for it's rally cars. Now Subaru don't rally, hence they can't win and gain publicity, so why would anyone join a Subaru forum? Or is this why charging for access is coming around?

At the end of the day, if I can't read it, I don't care as I don't know about it. If it's posted by someone who I don't want to waste my time reading, I ignore it. SN doesn't run my life. Gone are the days where I could easily make 100 posts in a day and it felt like there was a community. I think back a few years to when people would all travel to London for a ****-up or spend four hours on a flight to meet up for a BBQ, just because it was fun. Now.........?

You should be a high-ranking cop with a statement like that Swap the word 'mod' for 'Chief Constable' and 'member' for 'citizen/scum'

I have to say my eyes have been opened too. Some users I had quite a bit of time and respect for have since tainted that original opinion. Maybe I was too quick to give them that respect and time? I honestly don't know now.

Oh well, we live and learn.

I'd be seeking compensation from you for the abuse my liver suffered because of you

I think there has been a little too much dummy spitting over what is a very small issue. Apart form the aforementioned technical changes that should be made, it's not a massive problem to be honest, and I really don't see why people are getting so wound up about it. Another chance to moan at the powers that be perhaps?

Marcus; I'd like to think there was an agenda or underlying issed rather than it being just another excuse to have a dummy spit. Although I'm probably wrong as usual.

Hell, if there really is a reason. I'd rather they'd just get to the point of what their gripe is, and who that gripe is with, rather than beating around the bush and spouting conspiracy theories, then expecting us to read between the lines and fathom what the real issue is.

Unless as you say, there is no real reason and its just for show where they just wanted create an argument for the sakes of it. Possibly to test what value admin/other member place on them, or to see how many other users would agree/disagree with them.

Nowt as queer as folk , I guess

When I got to the point on page 2/3 of this very thread no reply from a mod was forthcoming
