Its the Hyper Compe R Neil, quite a bit lighter with supposedly more clamping load than the regular Hyper Twin.
It looks stunning and seems a shame to hide it away in the bellhousing. Lol
What's the motor spec on yours now? Your build looks fantastic

Fresh from the machinist. The heads and block need dressing and stoning in a couple of areas before washing.

The keen amongst you will see what ive done.

That's quite a lot large Frayz.
Any chance of sharing your thinking behind the design?

The seats are fine Daz, they will get a light lapping before assembly anyway.

As said, there are a few edges that I want to clean up beforehand. The slight sharp edge by the plug holes will be stoned.

Not going to say too much about it just yet. Just a custom combustion chamber to my own spec.
I really happy with the job on them though. We'll see if the proof is in the pudding when we come to map it. I say we... i mean Simon

Lets hope so Simon.

Im aiming for as much power/torque as possible on v-power alone. I wonder if the magic 500 can be cracked on just straight v-power?

A tall order i feel?

Looks nice.
I take it that you have balanced the volume in all four combustion chambers. I was also wondering how you have compensated for the lowering of the compression because of the reworking to the comb/chambers. Have the pistons been manufactured to your spec.
As always Frayz NICE WORK.

Yes all were CNC machined to the exact same volume. The areas i have smoothed has been done so very very carefully and i will ensure these all match perfectly with another cc check.

These were 2ltr heads with a cc volume of 49cc. Remember these are going on a 2.5 motor. Stock EJ257 heads are 55.5cc.
These are slightly different, but much closer to that of the 2.5 volumes.

The pistons are Lateral/Wiseco custom jobbies. Im not disclosing my exact CR just yet. I will cc the piston bowls and measure the crown to block heights on build.

Im not aware of anyone here having done what ive done here with this. So with almost no other info regarding the alteration of the combustion chambers. I decided to do some to my own spec.

Thanks for the insight Frayz.
Back in the 70's (Ford days) when we reworked the heads we used to measure the cc's with pipettes but I would think that things have moved on a bit since then.

Glass plate and a burette are still used mate. Works perfect and is as accurate as needed.

GT3076R with .82 ex housing.
most recent one done - 2.5 GT3076R with .82 housing at 1.55bar on a syvecs ecu was 480bhp 480lb torque on vpower @ surrey rr.. I think there was a little more in it at that boost but owner was extatic at that and said stop there.

I'll probably be on a Simtek as i dont think i'll be stretching to the Syvecs for my needs.
So maybe its possible?

yes.. thinking back that 480 may have been at 1.5bar as it was 1.6bar on his defi on test drive.. usually 0.1bar different.. but that was a very good engine.

My Stock EJ257 Motor with STI V5 heads managed 452@ 1.5bar.
I'm sure on a built motor, with vvt heads and properly mapped (mine wasn't) with more boost you'll sail past 500bhp

Frazer,

The CR is going to be low on this, but if it's for V-power then it will be quite good. The Lateral/Wiseco pistons have a high comp height (and stick out the block) requiring .4+ thick head gaskets. I wouldn't have gone so big on the chambers, but hey ho, it will be fine, just add more boost!

PS Have you seen the difference in power just a change of headers can make?

A 3076 core can certainly provide over 500bhp using VPower on a 2.5 (by quite some margin), all other things being equal.

Hope you get what you want mate.
