Well i guess shes long overdue her own projects thread.
Some of you may have followed the build of the car up to this stage in the "members gallery" thread.

I wanted a fresh start with the car for 2009, and as well as her engine build, a whole new identity. After over 3 years of coming this far, and a whole load of heartache with the car and the people surrounding it I needed a break from it all.
Well 5 months off, im getting my act together and progressing things to finally get her motor built and back on the road.
The start of 09 saw her go back to black with all her decals taken off and im slowly getting it back to a stage where it can be machine polished again.
Those that dont know, the stock 2ltr motor was taken out in Aug 08, in preparation for a new forged 2.5 motor to go in. The spec has since changed with regards to the turbo system. I decided to go rotated instead of stock location as ultimately that was what i wanted to do.
Last week i dropped the 2ltr long motor back into the car in preparation for me to fabricate a new up-pipe, downpipe and wastegate setup. I figured it would be nicer to do all of that work first and whilst theyre away for making properly/coating i can get on and build the new 2.5l motor.
Those that are bound to ask, heres the spec of the new motor.
New EJ257 block
New EJ257 sti crank
Wiseco pistons
Carrillo rods
ACL big end bearings
ACL main bearings
OEM head gaskets
ARP 11mm head stud kit
RCM oil pump
New OEM water pump
PE kevlar timing belt
NGK racing 8s
Modified V7 heads with AVCS
Phenolic spacers
JDM Spec C inlet manifold
Custom FE rotated up/downpipes
Garrett GT3076R
Tial 44mm EWG
Exedy hyper Compe-R twin plate clutch, billet lightened f/wheel
Custom FE fuel rails
So this is where im currently at (last 2 entries on old thread)
Well i guess i owe you all a small update on the car.
Work has started on the car and im doing bits here and there when i get time. I spent 3 days with a heat gun carefully removing all the vinyls from the car and now have the painstanking task of glue removing and polishing every panel inch by inch.
Getting the car back to the way i want it will be a slow process but at least im on it now...
But heres a quick peek to show you that she is still very much alive and a shape of things to come.

100% of the car is now fully devinyled and 90% deglued... i'll continue on this when i get a moment.
As for today i decided to drop the 2ltr long block back in and start mocking up the up-pipe/downpipe arrangement and finding out where the turbo will sit best.
The motor is sat on her mounts and bolted up to the bellhousing. The manifolds are on and i have a dummy up-pipe in place with the turbo loosely bolted up.
I have lots of fab work to do but at least she has a motor in here and the turbo system is under construction.

I'm not sure what is worse... the fact you wrote this up at 1.45 Saturday morning or the fact I am reading and replying at 2am...
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this car as it is built and the attention to details that you put in.

- what are phenolic spacers? my friend with a 350z keeps going on about a phelum spacer but i have no idea what he is talking about.
The car looks much better without graphics imho... when are you getting the Comp Mos?

Heads will have their combustion chambers modified slightly to suit the 2.5 short motor and get the CR right. This will be measured on build. Valvetrain will be staying stock as they will not be limiting me for my power levels.
Phenolic is a material that has a very low heat transfer level. They look like a thick gasket and fit between the heads and intake manifold. They prevent alot of heat from the heads transfering into the manifold and fuel rails.
I would dearly love a set of MO's mate, but theres no way im putting them on till they make a set lighter than my Speedlines.
My Speedlines could very well see a colour change but its not high priority at the mo.
Don't forget to make the bracket that secures the turbo and uppipe to the head.
Dont do what most do and rely on the uppipe to support the weight. I can't remember if I sent you a pic of mine or not from the RCMS kit but in my opinion that bracket is essential.

I'm still thinking about the roof vent. But I'm thinking 90% go for it at the minute so will order one in the next few weeks.

Yes mate, all done, run in, mapped, took her for a drive, dynoed at 8000bhp , got bored, took her all apart again and am now about back where i was at the top of this page
