Harness bar was an original Speedware item. I don't think they're made anymore.
Since been sold due to cage work.

No mike, no competition planned in it.
Too expensive to compete and it wouldn't be a competitive car.

I just like building and driving it.

This is as far as I've got today. All wiring from the dash back is now out, all deadening now gone and made a good start on removing most of the excess seam sealer.
Almost ready to start scotching up for paint, I'll get most of that done before the cage goes in because it's easier. Then it will all be prepped again once the tube work is in.

Coming a long a treat - I found the sound proofing came off easier when cold as it chipped straight off - I do like that splitter idea; the prodrive bumper does need something

Not for a few months though mate - there's a bit of an air-gap between me and the car at the moment

Following this up, I've carried on and done some more.

Complete AC system out.

With that in mind I got the trusty bathroom scales out.

Complete AC system was 13.2kg
Space saver & jack 20.1kg
Approx 15kg in misc parts (couldn't get them all on the scales)
11kg sound deadening.

So there a good 60kg before looking at bumper beams and the U brace is still on the car.
I'm yet to start on the doors too. It sounds daft but it's noticeably easier to push by hand.

I've also got a steel alternator bracket on the way so I'll dump the big chunk of ally too.

Is it safe to remove the U frame? Something I've toyed with the idea of but remain unsure ....

Probably wouldn't on a road car mate as it's designed to take the engine under the car on a frontal impact. However with a full cage with dash bars and linked to the front turrets I'd be happy to remove it personally.

I tried a steel bracket for the alternator and it didn't fit - I ended up slimming my alloy one down

The bracket was too narrow for the alternator to fit in - the bolt spacings for the block were fine though. I did try and fettle it but it was just too tight in the end...

Hmm, I'll have to have a look when it arrives. Might mean I have to alter it.

I found it easier to fettle the alloy rather than the steel but it guess with some patience it can be altered...

Maybe easier that way. But if I mod the the bracket it means that any oem alternator would fit. If I do the alternator then I'd have to modify a future alternator if ever I have a problem.

Most alternators have a steel bush in the rear leg that "moves" to take up any slack in slightly different width mounting blocks.

Steel bracket arrived today.
I'll have a play and see how I get on.

Doors are now stripped of cards and speakers.
Need to source some quality composite or carbon doorcards now.

Wasn't fitted on classics to my knowledge so don't worry about it.

RCM springs to mind although they may be significantly more expensive than others but their service is always at it's best.
