Most Fun Car You Have Ever Owned/Driven?
#33
98 UKDM Integra type R , straight swapped it for my R33 skyline GTS i have NEVER EVER driven a car so hard accelerating into corners on the backroads , it reassured myself cars could be fun again after the boredom of a skyline after the fun i endured with the Impreza.

Has to be my second car which was a 1975 Mini 1000 Cooper lookalike. It was fitted with an Avonbar 1380 sucking through a huuuuuge Webber 45DCOE. It felt fast at the time but wasn't in reality but by god did handle well. It was so predictable and controllable and was massive fun but very expensive to keep in tune. It had 10' alloys but were rather wide requiring the arch extensions and good sticky tyres were nice and cheap. I loved that car and even it's replacement (R5 GT Turbo) didn't handle quite as well lol.

By far and away the most fun Ive ever had in a car was my Renault 5 GTTurbo, owned for 10 years this month but sold it two nights ago
Mazda RX7 was amazing fun, just a little different to the 5 though and definately the most powerful.
Thought the impreza was pretty boring tbh, had enough power to keep me happy but really thought it was a poor car overall.

These were a great laugh and the thing is you get to race them around with loads of other people. Plus, despite their name, you can safely crash into other people with no retribution!! The handling is really direct and get loads of feedback through the steering and throttle response is instant.

I think I will have to go with my old Corvette C5.
Laugh out loud fast, sound track to die for, attracted a lot of attention, different and was actually quite practical.
Had a few Caterhams, they are fun, but only for 2 weeks of the year or on track. You also get out feeling like you have been in a washing machine.

Always had fun taking my 1948 10-seater open topped converted hearse for a spin. Especially full up and around London. A real head turner

My old Alfa 33 Boxer Cloverleaf, boxer sound, bangs and pops on overrun, lovely to drive, awful brakes.
R5 GT Turbo running about 160bhp. I had the only one that never broke down, never blew up, gokart for the road. Loved it.

It's got to be the '96 honda CRX (del sol to the stateside people) 1.6VTi - my first 100bhp per litre car and 160bhp
So low to the ground and a great feeling of speed - 3rd gear, 5800 to 8500 rpm ! wow!

easy peasy-
a 1972 vw campervan- had that for 10 years. had it slammed on porsche 911 discs and wheels and fantastic engine- it'd pull 100 mph- which was a big deal in 1993 !!!
road tax exempt and £100 squids a year to insure ! happy days.
I used to chuck my bikes on the back, caving gear/walking gear in and just set off every weekend to the dales or lakes with my mates- loads of them had campers too, or they join us on motorbikes
and just play out for entire weekends. just such good times.
finally replaced it with a new T4 vw campervan (some time ago now) and carried on doing a similar thing of playing out whenever the mood takes us.

My quickest car.... either the 2008 STI or the 2003 STI...not sure..
Most fun? 1973 Triumph GT6 with a 2.5 litre conversion and sprint box.... that was never a one handed drive... my 2nd car at the ripe age of 19.. god save classic insurance...
Best... Probably the Cayman..... typical German efficiency.... handling was way better than I ever could prove on the public highway.. it just remained totally focused at any speed on any road...

205 1.9 GTi Razor-sharp throttle response made it feel massively quick, and it handled amazingly. Found this more fun than the 1.6 GTi, and even better than the 1.9 GTi Turbo Technics which was extremely quick, but the standard 1.9 was just the perfect all-rounder IMO. Owned and driven plenty of other cars since having 205's, but none have come close.
Has to be said that was a cracking little motor that one Dave!

Your turbo technics 205 was bonkers, used to give my scooby a run for its money until about 80ish. The other ones were great as well but they are a bit of a tin can.
I want something rear wheel drive next to have a bit of fun with.

I actually really enjoyed my Saxo VTR - you could rag the hell out of it and it handled really well.
The mk2 GTi Golf was fun but the VTR handled better.
The mk3 GTi 16v Golf was less fun but more useful as a car.
The R32 Golf was fun in many ways but that excessive weight was always there and the actual driving experience could have been more fun.
My Astra is a surprise - enough torque to make good progress on any road and very good handling coupled with a lot of grip. I have embarrassed a lot of "better" cars in it on decent A and B roads.
I find I can usually find something good in any car - I've had plenty of fun in a new shape Micra, a Transit van, A Berlingo van and all sorts. Not many cars leave me completely cold but a few do spring to mind - Old shape Vectra was DREADFUL, Renault Megane is tragic (both hatch and drop top) and a few others have shocked me with their uselessness.

My Clio 172 Cup. Great fun to drive.
Dave's 944 was also incredibly fast once it had been tweaked
Both gone now, but my Fiat 500 is cool....

On a more serious note, my 2 favourite cars whee my Fiesta RS Turbo which was about 150bhp and would spin the wheels in 3rd, gave a scooby a fright up about 130mph
And my other was my Scoob V5 Type R which was emence, it could keep up with some seriously quick supercars

1988 BMW 323 official BMW touring car - in full race spec on a track - no silly leccy traction or driving aids, just big grins and tail out action
BMW Z4 alpina on a wet track - Woo-Hoo!
1070 1275cc AH sprite with a cosworth built fast road engine - silly fun
Porsche Carrera V10 - bitch at low speeds and that noise when you stamped on the gas!
1974 Opel Manta A Series 1.9SR - My first real car and i loved it dearly - underpowerd but RWD fun
assorted Yamaha IT175 Enduro bikes
BTW apart from the bikes i only owned two of the above list and i bet you can work out which

Without doubt a Fiat Strada Abarth !! - belonged to the guy who used to service my car and he used to lend it to me when either my car was in, or i fancied a blast (i used to clean it for him in return)
went like **** (back in the day - '86-87) and he obvioiusly footed all the running costs!!!
hahhahahha sadly everything has its day and its prob a bag of the proverbial to drive today!!!
