Started striping bits of the Type R this weekend to replace clutch next Saturday, seems the new spec has taken the last life out of the Excedy Hyper single plate, it has had some use and was tired when we changed box last season. Still Alyn for AS Performance has come up trumps on a good price for a new plate. Will stay single as can't stretch to a twin for this car.

Lost a few more kg's from the drag car too, more to come off before TOTB at the end of July, want it under 1050kg for that. The good news on this is looking at the logs from Shootout shows it back up to full power since Paul @ Zen replaced the failing LC-1 with a NTK wideband.

Tim Farmer came to help me yesterday to change clutch in type R. Also fitted some Morettes with adapted cold air feeds in place of the inner lights. This was a good opportunity to shorten the intercooler pipework which we also completed.

Thought all was well once we finished but noticed oil leak, now I thought this was the turbo oil drain which we sorted when box was off. I now think it may be the crank seal. Oh well box will have to come off again !

Few pics

Both cars ready for Elvington tomorrow, Type R oil leak was the turbo oil drain. We found a hole in it. So bedded the clutch in today and all is good.

Drag car has now had plastic front and rear screens put in, I have also put some low mileage STi3 struts on to replace the tired old UK ones. See if that stops some of the massive squat I was getting when launching.

Hope the weather holds, the drag car is 20kg lighter than at Shootout and without a 30mph headwind hopefully I can knock a little off my PB.

Good luck Clive.
I guess the rain may thwart your plans.
Look forward to results.

New PB of 9.65 @ 147 (1.48 60ft). Car did total of approx 10 9 second passes today. Slowest was 9.95 with slight bogged launch. 2 9.71's, 9.74, 9.77 and 9.8's

Type R's clutch sliped slightly on drag so Paul concentrated on handling. He drove it home and clutch was fine ! Typical, just bedding in issue I think.

Yep thanks to Alyn of AS Performance for his help again yesterday, he certainly does have some pushing skillz

Target this year is 9.5's, this car will never be much quicker unless my numbers come up

A quick thank you to Duncan (Racedynamix) who popped over to mine yesterday to do a quick adjustment on the Type R. I wanted more boost on the second map Also LC turned up a little to 6k rpm @ 0.6 bar.

Top man Dunc, thanks again.

Oh and we finally got around to changing the plates to Little Pauls old one from his Terzo. Jap style plates fitted of course.

Time for an update post TOTB. In the end both cars competed as one car was not ready in time so John Stevenson piloted the type R.

Day started well with Type R 13th early doors on handling but clutch started slipping again meaning John could not get the best out of it, later in the day after car had time time cool he ran an 11.48 quarter @ 122 and on to 150 mph on the standing km.

The drag car ran a 9.71 early doors which was good enough for 6th place at the end of the day, however there was more in it. I tried but after a missed third gear seriously buzzed the engine I think it may have led to the dreaded rattle, yep I had done the big end bearings.

So from 1.00pm I fully reverted to team captain duty and what a day it turned out to be. Team Subaru picked up the tittle ! The Lateral Banana with Steven Darley driving was amazing winning everything. The final drag was between Steven and Andy Forrest, could a team captain ask for more ? Nope. Steven edged it with a slightly better start than Andy, times - Andy 9.22 to Stevens 9.32.

Alll the team and supporters where amazing, top work by all involved.

I will now plan my rebuild and come back stronger, I have plans that I was saving but may do it all in one go now. I'll see how it goes as need to fund it somehow !

Well finally got the drag car engine out and Tim has stripped. Needs a new crank bearings and a rod. Will hopefully get it together over the next couple of weeks. Mark @ Lateral is going to supply the engine bits, just hope he can find a single rod knocking about somewhere.

Type R now has another clutch in as the Hyper could not quite handle the 440ftlbs. So now got a Helix paddle item. Not tried yet as it's raining here so traction would be an issue
