I shall play the devils advocate here only because I can see you are getting upset and that this is best brought to a close before any more bad feelings are raised.
TBH there was no need for a poll and this should have been discussed and sorted out off the boards. No harm in garning some opinions from other people, but I dont think this has helped the situation.
Also whilst simon's comments may be only him helping, I think he is best keeping out of it as asking the other guy to wind his neck in is not exactly constructive.
It is a shame that the seller was not completely honest with you as the marks dont appear to be burn marks but are netherless apparent and not clothing related. This is definately soemthing that should have been pointed out as knowing your questions, the seller should have seen that something like this would be a sticking point in the sale. I dont THINK the seller was being dishonest, just a bit naive which also should go for you as you should have checked better when they arrived.
To help you, this is what a proper *** burn looks like on a seat. this is from my Sti8 seat when my g/f dropped her ***...cow
I think the deciding factor is the fact that the seller came all that way to you to deliver the seats in person. Who else would do that knowing full well that the marks, if they were burn marks, would compromise the sale and he could potentially leave with nothing ?
Try and get some form of middle ground and walk away at least satisfied that you could sort it.

He still lied; didnt he? Either honest or not. It amuses me that people are blaming James for being too trusting: yes he should have checked, but the vendor shouldnt have lied about the seats condition in the first place.

just to clarify, he was at my house for less than 30 minutes and the seats were just taken out of mine then put into the boot of his focus, we then just sat the seats in my car, id of estimated they were on my drive (whilst i was removing the seats from my car) for about 10 minutes. but as stated I didnt really have chance to look at them as I was busy taking the seats out of mine to give to walton. and to futher clarify my point I have two witnesses to prove that. one of which is a police officer.
ok i am the other wittness and its just a shame how much snet as changed.. ...
yes james should have had a closer look but to be honest it was a little hectic on the day mentioned to say the least ,and as at one time on snet you could take a persons word as true it seems now there are people who bend the truth alot.. i have since looked at the seats and they are 100% *** burns /marks on the seats tbh the guy did seem fine well mannered and trustworthy.... this thread may have got a little out of hand and it should be sorted between j and walton ....as it may be just a simple case of one persons belief in what good condition is, we all have different levels of acceptence of second hand goods ,however in my oppinion the seats were not as described.....i would not be happy ...what i do know is that j told walton his seats were as new and belive me they were .... i hope you two can resolve this between you and remain true scoobyers ... as for people on here saying a poll was out of order well its a forum .meaning a channel for talking and meeting and expressing ones oppinions .about a topic/hobby that people of all classes have in common ...and weather we agree or disagree it should all be taken on board and either forget it or have your little rant lol ......so this is mine ......
