am I over reacting?

a quick easy poll for you.

I have just recently done a deal with a set of sti 555 seats for my mint sti v9 seats plus cash my way.

the seats were described to me as being in good condition with no cigarette burns.

I had pictures sent to me, and I didnt see anything to worry about, just general wear. so I agreed to the deal and took it at face value, another member with a pretty decent post count and no negative words said about him in the past.

the person travelled a bloody long way to my house on the weekend, he turned up, I removed the seats from mine passed them to him, he gave me some cash I took his seats and placed them in my car ready to be fitted, there was another guy at my house who had bought some wheels from me (scooby rob) we (me and toigye from here) were just helping him fit some seats into his car as he had never done a replacement on seats before, and we offered.

because of this I was slack and didnt check the seats correctly, in my car they have sat untouched until tuesday when I decided id give them a clean and go for a drive to see what they sat like. as I was cleaning them I found some marks on the passenger seat and the reason for this poll, I did ask before we did a deal if the seats had fag marks or holes, the reply was no.

I have contacted the guy I got them off and he has basically accused me of doing the damage and making the holes as they were not there before. I dont smoke, in fact I dont hang around anyone that smokes, the guy did say that there were some indentation marks from jeans on the seats, were these what he meant??

well, I dont think they are jean indentation marks, however I want to put it to the scoobynet people, to tell me what you think.

here are the pics. the seats have been in my car since tuesday, and I have done less than a mile in the car, and no one has sat on the passenger seat at all.

your opinions please.

Paulo P 15 January 2009 04:13 PM

That doesn't look good and the seats are clearly damaged :( You will also remember that I got done over on some seats I bought a few years ago :( You have to be so careful these days and you can't trust anyone :( It doesn't look like the poll is going well for the seller and I hope you can come to some sort of agreement with them.

Peanuts 15 January 2009 04:14 PM

man those are blim burns fo sure

KLR16V 15 January 2009 04:15 PM

As seller said no ciggi burns or rips but he forgot to mention the HOT ROCK BURNS !!!!

But you should have checked them as the guy did driver over to your house and give them to you , only takes 1 minute to check them over before you say yes or no to the sale , bet you will check items you buy next time .

TimWRX01 15 January 2009 04:24 PM

No doubt IMHO! Def. rock burns.

dazdavies 15 January 2009 04:43 PM

Is there any wonder why we all get stopped regularly by the Five-O.

Turns out that the average scooby driver (according to this thread) is a recreational drugs user!!!

To be honest your seats are atleast 10 years old, they are NOT going to be perfect are they?

BURTON 15 January 2009 04:45 PM

I love the fact most people on here know what hot rock burns are and it would't happen with good quality green :Suspiciou

+Doc+ 15 January 2009 04:45 PM

Mine are, but I have them covered :D
I think a contribution to the repair from the seller wouldn't go a miss.

Jamo 15 January 2009 04:47 PM

I wasnt expecting perfect daz, I wasnt expecting "fag" burns either though.

cheers for all the comments. :)

Soobmeister 15 January 2009 04:47 PM

same here, looks like small burns to me

Jamo 15 January 2009 06:33 PM

bttt

The Zohan 15 January 2009 06:36 PM

looks like dope burns - litle bits of resin or have fallen onto the seats.
IMHO.

Peanuts 15 January 2009 06:38 PM

strictly speaking....
The seats had no cig burns in them as described

wrx_jas 15 January 2009 06:45 PM

They look like burns to to me.

ScoobyDoo555 15 January 2009 06:53 PM

At the risk of causing upset, the mistake is by you. You should have taken the time to check them. Harsh but true. Sorry but take it on the chin. Edited to add that it is a little unfair as the seller may not have divulged all info , but again buyer beware.

Jamo 15 January 2009 07:05 PM

I agree to an extent on buyer beware mate, however I took it that the seller of the seats was 100% honest with their description so I didnt feel it was required to check the seats over there and then.

unfortunatly I was wrong in that assumption. there was another issue with the seats which was the drivers side belt buckle isnt working, he has agreed to pay for that to be replaced though.

in my mind the seats that I have are worth a lot less than the price we agreed on, on the basis of his description, bearing in mind the holes were not mentoned.

Connor_scotland 15 January 2009 07:12 PM

Not good to see mate

Yep defo hot rock burns. My passenger seat has a couple from the previous owner but he did tell me about them before i got the car :-)

Hope you get it all sorted out mate
