I've read through this thread and to be honest it like most things in life. Everyone has thier choice of preference.

Everyone one says one person is better than the other and one company is better than the other etc.

Kareena, for the time being until you have made up your mind OF YOUR CHOICE where you have your map done. Drive it safe until you can have it looked at. If you have trouble in your area and cannot get V-Power/Tesco 99/BP high octane buy a bottle of NF Octane booster and put approx 100/150mls in the tank for peace of mind.

I've had my STi mapped by Simon (JGM). For me he is a really nice guy and feeds back to you any questions you have. My choice was to get it mapped on the rollers (again my choice) and Si got me a very good result when you take into account my mods. In this day in age with the current money climate Customer service goes a long way. If you do a good job you retain the service etc.

As for Slowboy Racing. I've not used there services as of yet but does not mean they will not give a good service towards new and old customers. I am sure at some point I'll use them as there reputation seems to becoming bigger.

Don't forget the major tuning companys out there today had to start somewhere. But remember the service towards YOU the paying customer is what builds up these companys profiles in the first place.

I'm not picking sides at all just trying to add some input to this thread as it seems to becoming a battle of words at present.

Steve

just my two penny worth i have used jgm three times now and also traded with him personally and have to say is a very genuine bloke and v,good tuner mapped both my scoobs and would defo use again , don`t know much about slow boy racing who i am sure are also good at what they do, but smoni has a lot of knowledge regarding subaru engines and it`s because of his advice along with others Mark@lateral etc that i have the car i have today at the very least give him a call.

If you want a 2 hour map with no slow driving mapping or checking how the car works in every gear JGM Who is none to do more the 4 maps in a day.

If you want your car to really be looked after were it can be mapped and if anything is wrong go back to the garage to be sorted out (one stop shop) were your car will be checked in every gear and only your car will be mapped that day to make sure it is as good as could ever be, Slowboy Racing.

Some people like one garage to do all the work,
then go to a mapper to do the map,
then find out something is wrong and then have to go back to the garage to get it fixed. (when ever the garage has room for there car again 3 weeks later!)

Others use there brain

These cars are not straight forward! believe me i know!

Like Toys are us everything under one roof.
I was going to ignore this thread but I find your posts unreal to be honest.

Firstly I believe I have mapped your car three times.. first time Neil of Slow Boy drove as at this time I did his mapping for him as he didn't map at this point. Therefore you don't know what cruise was checked or not.. the other two times you brought the car down to me with small changes.. I think you went from a td05 to a td04 hybrid and there was issues one time with parts fitted (which had nothing to do with me and I helped diagnose, intercooller pipe split of something if my memory is correct). I also was kind regarding pricing as none of the reasons you were back were my fault and none of them effected the cruise and we cruise to roads where we could map the on boost and inbetween runs. I check all the time etc and as you had driven away and back to Neil to get the problem fixed, or used the car and decided to change turbo and then driven back to me etc and you never mentioned a cruise issue we can perhaps assume it was okay no?

Also a couple of months ago you rang me asked me to fit a SimTek to your new car.. a newage.. and booked in (so you must have been happy with your previous car and my mapping on it?).. and then rang me back a day or two later to cancel giving the reason that Neil was going to become a SimTek dealer and learn to map it on your car for mates rates.

I fail to see how many cars I map in a day is any of your business and you are referring to a group buy I did where by they had 4 cars in the same place and I was there from 9am until 11pm.. and all 4 are happy customers.
This is also not a normal day, not that I should justify myself..
Surely time taken to do a job is down to experience.. I map cars every day I am going to be quicker than someone that maps and also does other work (engine builds, servicing etc) doesn't mean the job would be any better or worse with either.

I have no issue with Neil at slow boy and have known him for a fair amount of time and suspect you are unlikely to get a discount from him by slagging off his competitors as like myself it is not in his nature and I am sure he is also cringing at your comments.

I do find your comment that he took more time to map your car amusing considering his company name

All the best
Simon

Great reply Simon and yes i did ask you to do a Simtek because there was no one else near by to do it.

As soon as i found out Slow-boy was doing it i canceled with you as i was much happier to have him do it.

I have not slagged you off just gave my opinion and said who i would go to and gave my reason.

I do not see the point of people coming on here and just saying to go to one or the other when they have not used both or some times even one of them. I have and this is how i feel.

I gave my reason and im sorry your not happy with them and have to try justify yourself but this is the way i feel. You are a Business man and one little me is not going to close your whole organisation down. Deal with it

The main point is as the thread was started who would i go to???

Slowboy, so thank you for your reply and good luck with you maps

Regards

Ash

Good luck reaching your target, luckily I made the jump just before our little man came into the world, couldn't have done it now!

I've had nothing but excellent service from Simon (JGM) and Neil (Slowboy), would and have recommended either. They've both taken a lot of time to help me get the best out of my car, and I'm delighted with the work done by both of them.

This thread is getting a bit out of hand, in that 2 incredibly helpful and genuine guys who contribute a huge amount to this forum have had negative comments posted up here which could negatively affect their business.

To the original poster - I can understand why you made the original request, but I wouldn't have mentioned the content of the PM's you received - they are private messages and should be kept that way.

Simon and Neil are both very honest people and I think this thread has been unfair to both.

With all due respect perhaps you should try looking in the Projects thread to see what Simon (JGM) is up to with his own scoob . I have not personally used him to map my car but he has always been very helpful indeed to any questions I've PM'd him on, and must admit each week I keep on seeing posts thanking JGM for his mapping abilities.
