Actually come to think about it i had one funny incident.

At the time i had my red 309gti, when heading for truro some blonde lass in a purple ka with token roxy decal of course decided to sit inches from my ****.

Now like most of you i hate this, i gave her a chance but she continued anyway i knew this road, there's a lovely 110 degree sweeping corner, what she didn't know my car was decked with an lsd, bilsteins etc, i picked up the pace and sure enough so did she.

I whipped the car comfortably around the corner only to see her wheels facing left but with the car heading for the hedge, and with oncoming traffic coming the other way.

She managed to save it at the last minute but she wouldn't come within 200yds of my car after that.

Never tailgate me, ever.

And then depending on my mood I either burn them off if they try and overtake or do it back to them once they have.

If they don't overtake and do it again, I do it again.

would you have felt bad if she hit the traffic though? Obviously it's her fault for being a cretin but you knew what you were doing.

I normally do nothing (their insurance problem) but if I'm somewhere that I just can't pull over and there's no point in my speeding up (like in the 2 lane section of the M11 waiting for 2 lorries to pass) then its gently slow down, speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down, speed up... until they get the message and all flustered from having to accelerate/brake all the time and back off.

I would have to own up to following closely behind people when I would have expected them to safely pull over to the inside lane so that I could go past and if they show me even a dab of the brake lights or a hand gesture, then I undertake them - no point in hanging around getting frustrated by someone who is obviously out not to let you go past.

its about quality of driving. a good driver gets through traffic without anyone noticing much. if i am going fast i do better with a POLITE attitude . I hang back to allow them to be comfortable to make a lane change and not to upset them. been "stealth" etc is the best way. Also certain makes of cars make matters worse.

worst i have seen is a 7 car pile up. and as the driver of the "cause" car got out he was beaten up by others who pulled up. he had been causing havoc for a long time. some young people are crazy behind a wheel.

My land Cruiser has some extra metal under the front and rear bumper. what ever car hits it gets smashed !!

To a degree yes i would, but they are in control of a vehicle, they should sit back far enough for it not to be an issue anyway, but i'll be damned if i own up to doing it intentionally.

When i said i gave her a chance to step back, it was a 3 mile chance.
