Not much logic in that, classics are older, so inevitably they will breakdown before newages. Classics are still better

i went out today and tried bumping it off the clutch as suggested but the thing is jammed solid !!!!

thanks to KevD for offering the loan of his car !!!! but i couldn't bear getting brake dust on his pristine wheels lol !!

i can run the xr2 for a whole year for the price of another gearbox, so that might be the best option at the moment, until the economy picks up

Cant you get a recon from Grade A or the like? Or better still fly over to Rettendon Breakers on the Old A130. They were breaking a Classic.
I've used them for a few bits and TBh they're really helpful you wouldnt even have to get your nails dirty

If you need a lift (apart from the kite) give me a ring and I'll drive you over.

nah, it should be ok over this "festive" period.

dont want the aggro of moving it about, prior to it going off for repair.

That sounds like the selector locked/broken. happened to my first gearbox undone couple of bolts and moved the selector a bit was all ok easy repair! but the gearbox will be weaker!

Hopefully see ya in 2009 My scooby is alive now (hopefully)
