The Gems is ok, just harder to get some stuff right than the competition.
Warm up maps and cold starting etc.
To be fair, WRC cars are much more likely to be on Pectel or similar high end motorsport engine management.

Martyn felt like trying something different on the car, as I want it to be as unique as possible. I want to become a member of the 600+ club one day

I know this thread is a year old now but I may have the oppurtunity to upgrade from an Apexi PFC to a 2nd hand Simtek with ALS and Anti-lag.
But finding it a little un-clear as to whether I will be able to map it myself as per the PFC.

The ECU comes with the software and licence etc....
Does this mean I can go play or do I still need to use a dealer.

Cheers....

The "Customer Programming kit" came with lead, dongle and install CD.If you have these then you can access the specific ECU that they are coded for.If you only have the lead and dongle then if you let me know the ECU serial number (on a yellow sticker on the PCB) then we can e-mail you the software FOC.

If you only have the ECU then to access you will need to purchase the Customer programming kit" again by letting us have the serial number. The cost of the kit is £115 incl vat and postage. This allows access only to that ECU serial number.Ifhowever you take it to a SimTek dealer for mapping then the Customer kit is not required.

Steve any news on the active knock correction, beginning my build after x-mas so need the ecu side sorted as it will mean the car will be off the road longer than needed.

thanks for your reply, was what i wanted to hear , so I would only need the CD and dongle if i wanted to alter the map myself ( which i don't) , so i wouldn't need to buy anything else - apart from having it mapped by a simTek dealer, cheers

Thanks for the replies guy's, however I missed out on the 2nd hand unit.
I would however be interested if any others come up or if you know of any.
Vehicle is MY99 Impreza.

P.S Will the active KC be a cost option or a free upgrade to those that request it.

Cheers

Is that the only way the upgrade can be done Steve? I am now living in Oz, brought the car with me but sold the OEM ECU.

Oz Post makes Royal Mail look outstanding! lol

Think I'll fly him out first! Car has been sitting at the docks for nearly 2 weeks waiting for customs to clear it!

Iirc I heard MartinJ say on another thread that the upgrades could be done without having to send off the ECU.

Apologies Martin if it wasn't you.

Don't me to drag this thread but will there be anything like a hand commander like apexi had with the power fc. To monitor knock, injector duty and max boost max rpm etc that's one of the things I miss most from the pfc
