lol indeed.

Would that be because of specially designed up- and down-pipes?

small update..

huge thanks to Stuart at www.swautos.co.uk for use of a ramp today and usual help / advice / abuse

small exhaust leak at centre section sorted, and rear sv boot split noticed.. doh..
so my Kaaz About KAAZ Limited Slip Differential rear diff will be fitted along with replacement rear shafts and therefore cv boots sooner rather than later.

this evening I have moved the header tank and replaced it with a Forge item (a lot lighter and more bling) along with an Sti 1.3bar cap.. and made a nice bracket for securing the powersteering resevoir to the inlet where the header tank did fix etc.. however just thought one last tweak to bracket with hammer.. and .... snap.. bugger..
so temp fixed and braided hose all padded so it won't eat the top rad hose or intercooler pipe or heat transfer etc.. back on the to do list.

Getting there.
Have fitted edfc so I can alter suspesion on the go as with setup for A road it was spinning wheels and bouncing off limiter on slight bumps on B roads.
Set up softer for B roads it would torque steer on A road etc.
Edfc great for playing with setup

the cv boot turned out to be a broken cv.. Dr-Frankin-Stew to the rescue

Kaaz diff and replacement shafts now fitted.

Huges thanks to Stew for fitting diff and shafts at such short notice.. highly recommended.

Car went on the dyno at the end of a very long day and made 465bhp at 1.5bar on vpower on first run.. I was fairly happy with that, my estimate was 450bhp before hand on this map I did whilst driving with laptop on passenger seat.. so seeing 465 at 1.5bar on vpower only I was hopeful of seeing big numbers tonight but unfortunatly not..
upped the boost a little and it just didn't respond as expected.. like the turbo is over speed or out of efficency.. Charlie at surrey rolling road had had a longer day than me and called it a day at that point and suspicion was boost leak or exhaust leak.. having driven it on the road since it sounds like a header gasket has gone.. doh..
So anyway happy with 465 with more to come.

lol at that photo ... it looks like the guy sitting in the back of the van is about to blow his brains out with his finger

465bhp ... not bad for a first knock ... sure it'll make much more once you have sorted out the niggles and managed to spend some more time on the map.

mmmm, yes I would have expected to see more too Simon. I haven't mapped a V yet, got one coming up next Saturday. I have however mapped an MD555 based on a Gt3076 comp wheel and a GT32 exhaust wheel on a 2.5 with AVCS.
This was quite similar in that it responded quite a bit worse than a 321T, but didn't quite flow as much as hoped and I also found that more boost (beyond 1.6 bar) didn't mean more power. Having said all of this it did flow very well top end giving the impression it would rev for ever, lol, where some other units I have tried have been all in the middle on a 2.5 and nothing at the top.
Best of luck Simon, i'm sure you'll get there in the end.

Got to 1.6bar tailing to 1.45bar and broke a rear shaft oops..

491bhp and 430lb torque.. will post graph later.. has 10% meth also

it is fairly laggy on the rollers and torque is down because of that.. but I wanted a power top heavy power delivery as I found the 2.5 had too much torque compared to the power for fast road / track work.. perfect for a lazy road car as you just booted it in any gear and away she went.

it was making 1bar in 4th at 3500rpm on the road.. but more like just over 4000rpm in 3rd on the rollers

happy but its not perfection yet.. 500 and I would have been very happy

That is very impressive power considering the boost Simon, will be interesting to see what it makes when you get up to 1.8 bar plus held.

ever played with very wild cams on a subaru engine?

this engine has exceptionally high VE and to increase the boost to 1.8bar if it would run it would most likely yeld no increase in power as it would overspeed the turbo and take it out of its efficency zone, I am considering fitting a turbo speed sensor.
the boost is naturally tailing off.. I have not deliberately tailed the boost off..
it is a little like asking a vf35 to run 1.6bar at the redline.. ie. it won't.

Obviously we cannot easily measure the cylinder pressure and so rely on turbo boost measured in the inlet manifold and on a basic setup it is very easy to see that the higher the boost within reason the greater the power and torque.. but this engine is different.

The setup is currently fairly laggy imho and it is not overly an issue to me as I like the power delivery and the way it goes on the road, as it is extremly violent, however the lag may be indication of a problem somewhere.. I am unsure if it is a problem I just haven't found yet or just the setup and nothing wrong.. I would expect everything to happen 500rpm sooner.. however I also wouldn't expect the power it is making if there was an issue.

To be fair Simon I have never been a fan of wild cams in any turbo car and I can see now why your curve looks the way it does.
The last wild cams equipped car I mapped seemed to be laggy due to the wild overlap, and when it finally did get going the turbo ran out of puff.

not a fan on evo's then? seen fantastic results on evos with cams..

I am loving the power delivery on the road it is very agressive ..
so much so it has worn the clutch out. .lol
